Given how much more efficient (heat/power/noise) the RX 480 cards were, I wonder if this responds nicely to a gentle downclock/undervolt?

If one cares about the included games then the 590 is actually a pretty good value proposition.

Yeah it does. I am reaaaaaaally tempted to buy one and replace my Fury X in my secondary PC. Then use the games on my other rig as well.

Will have to do some saving first, but if they keep the price around that figure it's a no brainer. Really nice looking 56 as well, you would usually get nasty tat at that price.

Right now it's an offer. But hey, if you had the cash ready waiting on the 590 it's a total and utter no brainer.

I don't think the price will stay high. Not now that mining has flat lined.

I reckon the 590 needs to be £30 cheaper, which should only be a matter of time any way. But being so closely priced to the Vega 56 is a bit stupid, considering it will whoop the 590.

Quite possibly the best bang for buck card out there now. I hear they can be almost as fast as the 64 too, with some gentle persuasion.

/me remembers when AMD managed small + efficient + high performance. Now it's just turn the power knob up to 11, forget the rest. In a market already saturated with similar (10% slower) cards, most of which are smaller/take less power/available second hand it's a bit meh!

It's pretty harsh to say it's a pointless card because of an offer on one GPU at one retailer. Vega 56 cards are normally around £350+, right?

£250 is a reasonable price for this card all things considering. That 56 is a very good deal indeed.

Lets think about the poor folks that have purchased an RTX 2080ti for stupid £££ just so they can play BF5 at 1080p with the DXR enabled .... and get 50fps .

    That's a 'black Friday deal', it's normally £400.

Good job working all those food/weight references into the article naturally.
    ...
But am I the only person that sees the name and thinks of nukes(Fat Man/Little Boy)?

Makes me think of a giant sandwich, probably of American Italian origin.

When the card name first leaked my line of thought was more Fatboy Slim than nukes.

(and now everyone knows I'm about 500 years old)
