A Makita DUB183Z leaf blower, was on the fence as to whether I'd bother with one versus picking leaves up manually like some sort of neanderthal, but at £30 an easier decision.

I'm a little bit disgusted (but not surprised) with the quality of "deals" here. Meanwhile my dad has just emailed me asking whether he should buy a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (i7, 8GB, 500GB SSD) for $900. I mean, it's not like I need another laptop... but still.

I'm still keeping my eyes out for 50% off a Synology RS1219+, Unifi XG-16 and 48-500. Not liking my chances.

Had the veritable pleasure of embarking on an 18v cordless drill driver purchase for my Christmas present...on Black Friday of all days. I didn't want anything too fancy and expensive, but that didn't make things as simple as I'd like because there are some DeWalt and Makita cordless drills under £100, among other slightly less premium offerings from Bosch, Ryobi, and Black & Decker.

After much review-reading and price-comparing over the past week, I settled on this ditty from Stanley which costs £75 at B&Q. It's the only 18v cordless drill I could find in this price range that comes with half-decent battery capacity (2.0Ah, unlike most others which range from 1.3Ah to 1.5Ah), and aside from the completely useless LED "work light" it seems to be a really good quality little machine.

Very much looking forward to putting it to use, and may even get some more FatMax tools to join the family.

Indeed, debating some new brakes and if I should sand/razor down the white frameset back to bare carbon then lacquer it.

Jebus! I looked up Sram Red and looked at the prices. I thought Mavic and Campagnolo were expensive back in the 80s but...

All of your electronic groupsets are brutally expensive. I'd absolutely love a Di2 disc brake bike but they're about a grand more expensive than the 105 disc equivalent... Too rich for my blood.

Sneak peek ... and yes, that's a 27" monitor behind it and a 14" ultrabook next to it. ;)

I also picked up a new EK Supremacy EVO in full nickel and a 1080 Ti FTW3 block for my card for $117 (+shipping, in total) in their sale. Now I just need to wait for that sweet, sweet rad to show from Paul (it's still in the UK at my parents house) and then I am ready to roll. :D

There need not be any other reason than 'because'!

I mostly wanted something that had a bolt on headphone amp. Next I'll be keeping an eye for out for an AM3 module that's not too much or too broken.

And at some point deciding what to do with the X5.

I actually did a black Friday purchase! Mobile phones direct were doing a stonking S9 deal - free phone, 100GB data, unlimited calls and texts, £36 PM but with £480 cashback (over 5 installments), taking the effective monthly cost down to £16 and overall cost for the 24 months well under the handset cost sim-free!

Considering my Pixel is in perfect nick and can fetch a decent amount too, I figure I've pretty much got a new phone and a BOAT LOAD of data for very little money.

MSI Duke 2080 Ti. Now to find the time to actually use it for some gaming.
On the plus side when time comes to retire it the scrap metal price should almost repay what it cost.
