Scratch Build – Complete ⭐ Light Blade "It's still cool to air cool !

Cheers VT ty mate , it's not often i spend a lotta time on the rear end but i thought this one needed the attention

Hopefully a big update and run for the finish line this weekend....

 

Trying to bring this one home, still some small things to get done.

One of them was sorting a mesh insert for the rear exhaust the other getting the Corsair hardware installed to control all the LED madness.

I gotta say while you pay a premium for the corsair gear it's sooo easy to setup...

The whole lighting effects come from a single 2 channel Node pro unit.

LED output 1 Runs direct to the 4 RGB strips and LED output 2 runs to the Corsair Fan Hub and controls the 2 x 140mm LL front intake fans and the 2 120mm LL CPU cooler fans

The 4 LED strips have been spliced into 2 separate runs to mirror the signal from the output 1.

This gives the effect along the sides of the case and then up the front.





With the rest of the wires installed the PSU cover can be sat in ( this will later get a latch and lock type system to hold it in place)




For the Hyper 212 cooler i had wated to put some sort of cover on it.... but of late have decided that i much prefer the look of the "raw" cooler as this works better with the

hot rod look of the over all theme... A coat of black was added to the outer parts of the heat sink.







This completes the hardware with GPU TBA!





The rear port grill is pretty simple, 2 Routed circles of plex with a slight edge trimmed from the insides, this will allow the mesh to sit and the 2 parts can be glued together.

The mesh is some good old MNPC tech mesh ive had in the shop for many years now .










The new unit simply press fits snug into the port.



Pretty much finishes off the rear end




As you can see by the screen all the LED effects are easily controlled by the iCue software




Custom cables , GPU , centre caps for the front fans top window , side windows, bottom wire covers, still to go.

 

You forgot your rgb power cable.

All you need now is a Galaxy HOF GPU.

Cheers VT ty mate GOD i would love a HOF card. But don't wanna sell my soul to a brand to get it ...but if a certain rgb card was offered to me i could swap over to the dark side

I think i'll just stick with something basic being as workshop pc and not my inside pc it really dosnt need to much.

Ahhh i remember the old EL wire days jeeesus i can remember trying to cut and rejoin that stuff to make lightening for a case mod......what a nightmare

Modders don't know how easy they have it nowadays

That's just led light tubes ... jeesus they even stole that idea off me

On the home stretch now

Finally the Case Mod Pro Cables arrived... I went with the Carbon... i thought white would just look Cheesy.

And it was time to do some Cable Management...... like all 3 mins of it Seriously i have never cable managed a case that was so easy to "Cable manage"

I should dig through the Corsair cases Bill has sent me an figure out what the black boxes are. -Not that I'm compelled to rewire an already dead-slow project...
Worried about the wire: Dude, this is 100% about the case, not the hardware.

 

LOL soo tru I'm winding the clock back 20 years and sending this thing to an event for show ...... ahhh the old days of lugging and sending case mods of to studios and magazines and events..... i swore i wouldn't do this again and yet.... here i am

Back to the old girl for today

Side Blades, I wanted to add some lighting that i could use to show off my Sequential Blinkers when this case goes to HIN this weekend

As usual nothing toooo overboard

I won't underglow these as i'm constrained by the bulk of the corsair led strips, i have ordered some better thinner strips, but they wont arrive in time.


The design is really simple, 3 layers of plex, 1 middle of frost sandwiched by white .





With the magic of routing and some wire and glue work .... 1 side blade.





Only the one edge will light up for now, once the new strips arrive i reopen and wire in the under glow.




For now these wont perma attached, and i'll wire them externally, so they can run separate to the case.





Not much i can do about the dark spots for now, but they do look pretty cool running separate effects




Even the solid colours look pretty nice.

Just testing out the new interactive Corsair wallpaper.... the guys over in the corsair forums are doing some amazing stuff with LED's and wallpaper engine!

Ive redone the side panel now to light fuller and under glow as well

A few last minute touches before this goes to HIN's this weekend.

Ive added a good old base to the case, this should help to protect the bottom blades from damage while on show.




kinda gives it a weird hover boat effect.... but works well as a protective base.



You prolly already spotted the new light blade on the bottom right

Ive made these as an "addon" feature, this allows me to remove/upgrade/change later on.
The units simply stick onto the side windows using D'sided white tape.
and are connected externally via the hubs and usb cable.

They run on a separate Hub, this allows me to run the lighting effects independent to the rest of the leds.








There are sooo many different lighting effects as well as the active music ones.

The case can have a different look to suit mood room colours and i'm hoping down the track even match in-game effects

I should have closed this off ages ago. I recently stripped her down for parts but do have plans to make it my first hard tubed mod down the track.
