Hello, I noticed my 9700k with black ops 4 settings maxed at a modest 1080p res on my hydrocopper gtx 1080 that total cpu usage sometimes hits %100 usage.gpu usage is already at %100.I can't imagine 1440p,4k a gtx 1080ti,2080,sli setup.poor optimization of the game or just a modern 8 core cpu does not have enough under the hood?Anyone see this also.I thought a 9700k would be enough?
Yup at lower resolutions the gpu is less taxed so throws more quickly to the cpu, the higher the resolution the more work the gpu does so the cpu has less strain. It's why my 3770 still manages at 1440p with my 1080.
Im still rocking an i5 3470 with a 1070, i'm plannig on getting QHD 144mhz screen very soon. I just hope i have enough cpu power to run it at high enough frames. I just want to hold off upgrading cpu as long as poss.
Thanks alot guys for the responses, I'm limited to 1080p now as I just bought a alien ware 25inch 240hz/1ms moniter. So upon understanding what everyone said (ty) I guess my only question now is will 1440p make my go usage go from %100 to %150,lol?I understand the gtx 1080 is old but new to me as I got 2 months ago for $445 evga hydrocopper(great deal imo).Tho I can still step up program to a plain 2080..Not thinking it's worth it maybe as I get 144 fps solid settings maxed settings at 1080p.I'm not sure.again ty all. Side note for $350 the alienware moniter is nice.
Try setting up DSR in the Nvidia control panel. Note that odd factors, 1.33x and so on will produce a blurrier image. When I got my 1080ti, paired with a 4.8ghz i7 4790k I was shocked at my performance in 1080p, using DSR I push to 1440p or even 4k depending on the game, knowing that the more I throw at the GPU the less of a bottleneck my CPU will be.
Ty for your reply, "DSR is a way for a fast GPU to offer improved image quality on a lower-resolution display. Nvidia bills it as a means of getting 4K quality on a 2K display." This really is not needed for me I think as my new alianware 25 240hz/1ms,9700k,hydro gtx 1080 combo gets insane fps and looks flat out amazing I really could not ask for better image quality (settings maxed out blk ops 4)at 1080p besides maybe a oled moniter. My only question really was the 9700k being a nice cpu floats at %100 usage at times as well my equally maxed out gtx 1080.At this I been told don't worry about it as the specs I run all are matched up near purest and let it be with no concern, great temps, fps.I expected the gpu usage hi as the 9700k would push gtx 1080 hardcore, but not the cpu itself maxing out. Again ty for your response.
You mention an 8 core CPU, is it pegging 100% on all cores? Because if not it's probably more to do with the game not utilising the available threads very well, something that (afaik) for black ops 4 can be fixed with an .ini file tweak.
Hello, No its not maxed on all cores but....hwifo shows each individual cores around %50-%100 depending on the intense firefight battles(lol)...but right below each core sometimes it will say total cpu usage %100 as does task manager also confirming this....now my old 2500k would say %100 all 4 cores . This game is crazy....no I'm crazy spending $1,800 in upgrades... cpu, mobo, ram, vid card, moniter.
You could try the two simple tweaks this article talks about, basically setting the pre-render frames to 1 and editing the playersconfig.ini to enable threaded rendering and increase the amount of worker threads.
