You are entirely correct. I though I was agreeing with you but reading it back the tone comes off all wrong. I blame a Saturday spent mixing with the British public and their infamous Christmas cheer.

    So yeah, sorry about that.

Got paid today, but it looks like only half the Christmas bonus of the previous 3 years...

Before anyone jumps on me, a bonus is a bonus, I know - but I also know the company had a record year in terms of sales and profits, and a significant part of that is what I do (it's a 1-man production operation and I didn't miss a single deadline or ship date, even while having a newborn baby). If I had a bit of warning, then fine, but I do not appreciate a 3-year pattern suddenly changing when all the signs were pointing in the opposite direction.

I'm hoping it's just a cock-up on the payroll/accounting side, but if they start cheaping out on me now, with all the extra work I'm doing to meet demand, I'll start looking elsewhere...

Happens to the best of us in this stressful time of year. Appreciate the honesty reaction.

Right now, the only annoyance I have is that there is no snow, just rain, in the bloody Black Forest.

Don't think anyone is going to jump on you, I'm sure most would be equally unhappy in your position.

I'd forgotten how slow and ball-achy it was to update the travel-media drive.

    Same in Austria :(

At least the slopes are still getting bits of snow by the looks of it.

I bought alcohol. Does that work, too? And I might draw on my new graphics tablet later.

There was snow three days ago when we arrived. Since then we had around 2-3 without rain. And it never got cooler than 3 degrees C. Well, off to a long walk in the rain. It'll be fun.

Horrific bout of man flu. This has been a truly miserable year health-wise...

Ditto, I've spent the last week blowing my nose into a sock (a different sock per day I may add) simply because I can't afford to replace loo roll at the rate my hooter is going through it..

    Christmas conversation turns to politics.

    Yeah, never a good idea.

    Hello also from work!

An I have no idea why dinner conversations always turn political, that or mum starts ranting off about how rubbish the family is an then onto UK and then to US politics.

Needless to say the last two days have been hellish. In two days I've consumed far to much alcohol and passed out a few times.

FlyBMI. Their customer care, to be precise.

Flew to Jönköping (Dreamhack Winter) a month ago. The flight from Frankfurt to Jönköping was delayed by more than three hours. So, obviously, I can claim compensation. Which I did today (I was busy, okay?). Guess what, they...

I sure am assured you have a metric f***-ton of complaints. They will either not respond at all (highly likely) or at least screw up because the claim is for two individuals (pretty much certain). But the carrot is golden: if it goes through and we both get our compensation it'll be up to 600 Euros, more than we paid for the flights.

Sold my PC. Got a pile of HP Omen stuff in the deal. CPU (i3-7100) is dead. No money to replace at all.

Stripped down a build as I figured putting it in the loft full of coolant and mildly valuable hardware would be stupid. Figure I will put the board and CPU back into the case where it belongs, making it all work as it should (USB ports, lighting, overclocking etc). Go to fit it, then remember it needs a stupid custom cable. Do I have it here? do I 'eck ffs. I even ordered a litre of isoprop and some TIM as well, grrr.
