I'd like to see some Battlefield V benchmarks, with and without Ray Tracing. I appreciate that it has limited support on a handful of Nvidia cards only but would be useful none the less.

As I see it, whether this card is any good or not, as GTX 2080tis go, is purely academic as it's inconceivable that I might pay so much for a graphics card. (with allowance for inflation in the future)

It's for sure bonkers money. You could buy a very decent AMD ryzen rig with a 10 series GPU that can play games for just the price of this card.

From an engineering point of view it's performance is still hindered by Nvidia's control of the power limits (as likely will be the EVGA Kingpin), that's not to say it's performance isn't truly insane - insanity, well that's also a word that safely describes it's price tag.

The Kingpin is supposed to have a 520+W BIOS. It actually has three BIOS in total which you can pick via a switch on the side of the card.

Still, this price is just a bad joke. I read an article today in which the author voiced the opinion that Nvidia is simply running an experiment on how much they can charge for the high- and top-end cards (read: RTX) before the sheep stop buying them. Right now it looks like the 21xx or whatever they'll be called might be even more expensive.

Turn off Volumetric lighting and Contact Hardening Shadows for an insane performance boost, game looks pretty much the same but runs at almost double the FPS.

If these are selectable quality/performance feature in a game, I would not expect to turn them off or below ultra, or any setting for that matter, if I had a £1400 graphics card with the rest of the system to match.

You can only expect brute force to do so much, the rest is up to the game developers.

15% better than a 1080Ti for twice the price. Bargainiferous!

I see Scan don't even stock the 1080Ti any more - Are nvidia killing it off to force folk down the RTX path?

Even if you can get hold of a 1080Ti now @David, the pricing of most is above and beyond even the 2080's.

For 10-series cards, you really need to go down the secondhand route. I just picked up an EVGA SC2 1080 Ti for $450. Bargain!

I'm half tempted to flog it for a profit... but it's for a friend who's getting back into the gaming scene since his old rig from '07 just can't handle anything anymore. :D

From others hardware-OC (voltmodding and external VRM) testing, you can eke out a little more performance with subambient cooling, but the cards are just already operating at the reasonable maximum power from stock. BIOS swaps and 'reasonable' air or water cooling are going to gain little if anything over a stock FE with a memory clock bump (and stock power/fan settings).

According to Jen-Hsun Huang they sold almost all 10 series cards globally. So basically, the last bit of stock gets priced sky-high as per usual.
