Chairman of the Northern Island committee on the news saying how the EU are using the border as a way to keep us in a CU, and there are alternative arrangements that could be made. :wallbash: When asked "such as?", he mentioned technology!

BBC reporter then mentions how his own committee said that technology isn't a workable solution to which he responded that that report was from March and a lot has changed since then. Annoyingly he wasn't pressed as to what new technology had magically presented itself.

The UK government has an excellent track record with technology, I'm sure they can make it work correctly, on time, and on budget.

Tory peer Trimble who was involved in the GFA is seeking a judicial review over the Irish backstop.

So with two month to go to the cliff edge one part of the UK government is suing another part of the UK government over a part of the withdrawal agreement that can't be passed by the UK government...

    Pure 100% Genius.

Given the state of the rest of the Brexit goings on... The govt sueing itself because the govt doesn't like what the govt is doing [or not] seems par for the course.

Maybe they'll ask the ECJ to intervene.

Mind you they've been waffling on as though the backstop is the only issue with the 'deal'. Which it's not.

Not sure how many who voted to leave voted for crashing out with no deal, although it appears that's what many MPs are now saying they actually voted for...

It seems people voted for what MPs tell them they voted for.

IDK why this amused me as normally things like this don't....

The ballot/result just said 'leave', it didn't say how, it didn't say when, it didn't even hint at why... Just that, on that day in history, a nation-wide opinion poll concluded a slim majority were in favour of leaving the EU [and only the EU].

My mum is confused. She thought we'd just leave. She's also a bit confused as to why it will affect me and my eu partner as she said from the start "she'll be ok".

Maybe I just need to send a letter to the Government from my mum. Is that how it works?

As for a once in a lifetime vote my mum has had two votes on europe now. I'd like a second vote please thankyouverymuch.

3 votes if you view the 1992 General Election as a referendum on the Maastricht Treaty, which some do. [Conservatives were pro, begrudgingly, Labour was, iirc, against.]

    Genius @Corky42 . It'd be funny if it weren't accurate. :(

    Paywall.

    Presumably that’s public sector pensions?

Pension pots of private sector work pensions, surprisingly.

Would it be the same pension pot they constantly bash Gordon Brown for dipping into?

Because like everything, it's only bad when Labour do it.
