Ok. So the PM says it's clear from the results that people want them to get just on with Brexit. Just how the sweet baby jesus does she say that with a straight face?

Current the stats are: Con-703 Lab-78 and UKIP-76
The remain groups are LibDem+428 and the Greens+96

How does that read as Brexit still being a good idea?

 

She has to say pro Brexit things as she absolutely can't afford the ERG and DUP twisting the knife after a wipe out like that?
At least that is my explanation.

 

The same way she always has... by falling back on, and doubling down with her complete disengagement with reality, political or otherwise.

As for Labour, as one MP allegedly put it - 'The problem with standing in the middle of the road is you risk getting hit by both lanes of traffic'.


...also everyone in the media and from the big 2 parties saying 'oh it's just a protest vote', 'it's nothing to do with brexit/our brexit stance'... would they be saying that if it'd been ukip making the big gains?

The labour losses have dipped under 100 again... but this is relative to 2015, where they did notably badly and 9 years into a run tory-led govts of various confugrations that virtually everyone agrees has been crap, yet still they go backwards.

I'm only guessing but i think it maybe to do with their unshakable faith in the 'democratic' process, i suspect they either don't understand or refuse to accept that democracy in the UK has been pushing up daisy's for quiet sometime.

If you look at what makes a society democratic, at what democracy actually is, the UK arguably hasn't been one for decades and politicians throughout the years have, either knowingly or unknowingly, played a large part in its death. Admitting to yourself that you've inadvertently been harming something you care deeply about is hard enough, admitting it someone else takes a lot of courage.

Then again I'm probably talking poo.

 

Politicians are going to neither accept nor admit that the very basis for their existence and handsome living is corrupt or defunct. It would be like the Vatican believing and proclaiming that there is no God.

 

What's the quote?... 'It's hard to get someone to grasp something when their job relies on them not grasping it' or something like that.

 

Well it's not like they couldn't have fixed it throughout the years, they've played the largest part in destroying it from allowing newspapers to become little more than partisan mouth pieces back in the 80's to turning a blind eye when known falsehoods have been propagated by the media and fellow politicians.

TBH i'm not sure how the Tories would allow anything to be agreed with Corbyn. Trust him enough to strike a deal with him over one of the biggest issues in UK history and yet in the next GE say people can't trust him to run a country... Yeah, that wouldn't work.
