@RedFlames , if you haven't already done so, check out https://ceoemail.com/?q=natwest and start firing off angry complaint emails to the relevant big bosses. Much more chance of getting your complaint resolved quickly if it's immediately escalated to the team that handle complaints made direct to the top brass.

@RedFlames And don't forget to include an invoice covering your losses due to the missing money & your time lost chasing it.

Someone rummaged through my car and stole my sunglasses (perception, ~10 years old and as unfashionable as one can get) and a Bluetooth headset I use for hands free calling while driving. Looks like a crime of opportunity as I can find no damage to the doors or windows. Total value of goods new less than $300 CAD. I am more mad at myself for not making sure the doors were locked than at the lost items, but not as mad at the criminal who stole them.

It's almost certain that my uncle will be dead by tomorrow morning. He turned 31 at the start of this year...

He has cystic fibrosis and early on in his life it was expected that he wouldn't survive past his teenage years. He survived far longer than anyone expected and even had a lung transplant a few years ago. He started getting quite ill again a few months ago and by that point doctors were pretty sure that he'd only be with us for another year or so at most. He had a heart attack yesterday and was rushed to hospital - quite literally, the ambulance had a police escort. His heart had stopped for two hours before they finally managed to get it started again. By this morning he was breathing on his own but he's still on life support in the critical care ward. A brain scan confirmed that there was no higher brain activity so it's likely that he suffered brain damage during that period when his heart was stopped. He's going to get another scan tomorrow morning and if there's no change then the life support equipment will be turned off.

It was not easy to see him in that hospital bed. What really got to me was talking to his mother. Soon as he started having the heart attack (although at the time they didn't know that's what it was) he got his phone and started calling an ambulance. The last thing he said was "Mam, am I having a stroke?"

    Sigh...

It failed to complete an extended SMART test in my Synology after about 2 days so I have had to pull it and run the WD diagnostics test on it (WD 4TB Red), the other 4TB Red completed in about 9-10 hours.

I have a sneaky feeling I am going to have to RMA this one, it's been saying 6 hours to complete since about 2am this morning.

Ran out of milk. So breakfast consisted of toasted stale bread and black tea.

Tried to write to a MicroSD card for one of my RasPi's. Suspect that the card reader is dead. :sigh:

Anxiety is the worst it's been in a long time. Last night was truly awful. I decided to go to a local place to eat but stuffed it all down way too fast to enjoy it. Got back and by 9pm I wanted to OD. I ended up playing Days Gone for two hours which really helped once I could concentrate, then it returned but I took my sleeping meds before it got to the utter panic level. Bit my nails, two ripping out skin which bled and hurts tons today.

Am going to mum's in about 2 hours after my support worker has been. I don't know what the root cause is. Crap brain, finances, boredom? God knows.

My mental health place kindly cancelled my now 3 monthly visit last week too. The mental health system is on the floor down here thanks to austerity. If it continues I'll just have to taxi over and sit until I get an appt. I really want to take diazepam, but that means tons of constipation and a potentially very slippery slope.

I don't know what it is about card readers, but they seem to die incredibly easily. I've had several cark it on me over the years, and one managed to take out the hub it was attached to as well. Even now I never plug one directly into my PC, always via a hub.

    I use one of these:

Which used to work fine sat on my desk and connected through a USB 3.0 hub, then one day stopped. Just before I replaced it, I tried it directly into the PC: works fine. Tried a different device on the same port of the hub, works fine. Put the reader back into the hub, no-go.

Now it lives sat on the top of my tower, which isn't quite as convenient as it used to be when it was sat on my desk...

I've been using the same Lexar Micro SD reader for a couple of years without it borking, its as simple as I could get it, Micro SD only only downside is its not USB3. I'm prepared to eat my words when It inevitably dies next time I use it now.

That rather sounds like a problem I had with my arms. Only way I can describe it was like a continuous dull ache. It was a really odd one. When doing physical activity my body would scream that my arms are going to give under the work. So mentally I had to override what my body was telling me. Although it's a bad analogy it was like putting your hand on a hot kettle and using your head to override the impulse to remove your hand!

Tried to describe it to the doctor as a debilitating problem but she really couldn't wrap her head around the concept! Eventually month by month the ache went away and a couple of years on it's completely cleared up. Didn't take any treatment. However I believe the cause was the use of industrial machinery that sent vibrations through my arms. Took some negotiating but my employer finally gave in and put me to work elsewhere... actually doing harder work without machinery! Done the trick though!

Second-wind for Win-phone...? If not, I may abstain from mobiles completely if the only other choice is the fruity kind. :(
