    Aye, true.

I can't think of a bank that I've not heard consistent grumbling about, though, or had consistent grumbles about myself.

Eh, the entire banking industry is a *********** of people trying to get rich using other peoples money. **** 'em all.

I guess of them all Nationwide is at least a building society and, in theory, run for its members.

Im with RBS, not had any issues. I work onsite at another bank (red branding) the amount of chaos behind the scenes you would not believe but likely the same at all of them.

I've worked for two of the banking institutions mentioned in this thread in network and cyber security, and have knowledge of the infrastructure for a further one mentioned in the thread. The first I have personally used and with the full technical insight I have of would be happy to use again, I just fancied the switching bonus elsewhere, and the local branch wasn't overly convenient. The next one I wasn't particularly happy to use and with my technical insight I NEVER EVER WOULD. The one I have knowlege of the infrastructure of ... I probably wouldn't use again, however their website and app weren't great anyway so was happy to leave them. I cannot however due to NDA even hint which any of these are.

Unless I'm missing the secret code, thanks for saying one is good, quite a few are bad, can't say which ones? :p

I guess the most I can say is that the mentions of the good one no-one has disagreed with yet in this thread, however the bad ones at least one or several people have mentioned are bad. NDA etc.

If you're really concerned about security, keep your money as actual cash coins which would have metal conversion value at least and only buy prepaid credit cards at the supermarket with said cash when you want to make an online purchase :D

... infers, to me a "one parent, two brand" set-up; I doubt there's only one of these, though...

    This basically.

    Mine is Santander.

Switched from them to First Direct, not a thing to complain about other than their less than excellent app. Having used customer services a number of times, responsive and helpful.
Switched form FD to Natwest, similarly everything has been spot on since... YMMV clearly.

I's suggest giving FD a punt, you can skirt the fee via the following means...
