To be fair: It doesn't really matter which one of them wins, BoJo who is a buggy beta version of Trump, Hunt who wants to s*** Trumps ****, Gove the snivelling backstabbing toad and hypocrite, Saj who believes an endorsement from Ruth Davidson has value or Stweart who has found a human skin suit somewhere but has forgotten which party he is trying to win over.

So in a way it is kind of understandable that they all basically surrendered to Doris in hopes of Cabinet jobs.

 

I bet Europe is loving this, they spent 2 years getting the UK government to understand reality instead of the Brexit fantasy and now they're going to be asked to do it all over again, who want's to guess what their answer will be.

I'd wager at this point they could just hire a Frenchman to say "non" to everything.

 

The Tory hopefuls seem to think it just needs the old British approach while abroad, say the sane thing again but say it louder...

Of course with a lot of people on the UK side not having paid attention to the hardening attitudes towards the UK in the EU it will likely still come as a surprise to the UK.

Meanwhile Sir Ivan Rogers' guess of how it will all pan out. TL;DR:

- Boris will repeat the same mistakes that May did, either through stupidity or, knowing that it is a doomed effort but allows him to blame the EU at home, quite deliberately, with the result that that:
- the UK is almost certainly heading for a no-deal Brexit;
- the consequences of which will be very bad, but will take a while to sink in with a political body in denial and an electorate that is slow to realise it has been lied to;
- and will force the UK reluctantly back to the negotiating table --eventually, but with much less leverage;
- But there will have been such a breakdown of trust and goodwill that negotiations will be long and messy.

Basically: no deal, very bad consequences, politicians and electorate slow to admit it before UK ends up with a worse deal than May managed to get in the first place.

 

Judging by that recent poll Conservative members and one would assume the leave supporting ones, don't care that the consequences will be very bad. There's no doubt in my mind that people who still support leaving the EU, irregardless of what's happened in the last 3 years, are no different than other ideologically driven radicalised fanatics.

Didn't some Conservatives say they'd resign the whip if Doris became PM?

If so it would be interesting to know how many will stick to that when the inevitable happens.
