Polar opposite of the last race - exciting stuff! Are the stewards going to decide the race result again though?
And how many appeals will Ferrari pull out of their arse this time if Verstappen is allowed to keep the place?
That was the most exciting ironing session I'll ever likely experience. Spoiler What a drive from verstappen. I hope to God they don't take it off him. Quality drive from norris too, seeing off almost everyone to take 6th
I don't see how they can reverse the result, the move was aggressive but I don't think it was over the top. Ferrari blew this result much earlier in the race - Leclerc was on the radio before the halfway point wanting to open the taps and drive off into the distance, but they held him back and told him to manage the race. If they let him go, he would've been another half lap down the road.
Absolutely nothing wrong with that pass, Max took the line and remained full lock without losing control. It will be a sad day if that is considered penalty worthy.
Not a penalty. BUT. Is it wrong that I dislike Verstappen and Horner enough that I want them to get a penalty anyway? The backlash might even generate some useful change in the rules going forwards, since he's F1's current Goldenboy and all.
I'd like to see the onboard footage of both cars of the overtake, but so far it looks like LeClerc lost the position but refused to concede (hard racing, as it should be), while Verstappen had the inside line, braked later missing the apex and was full lock.
Not wrong at all, Max is a dick - although appears to be maturing somewhat this year - I'm waiting for him to return to form later in the season and blow it. Today though, he was sublime, and for me that was a good overtake.
Oh, Max and Horner are world class dickheads, and I'd like something/someone to piss in their coffee. However, the feeling is tempered by the fact that Ferrari are suffering out of this, regardless of my admiration for Leclerc's performances.... and there a little bit of a concern about another penalty damaging the already dinged up image of F1 at the moment. I'm aware the stewards decisions should be made in isolation of all other considerations, but it isn't really shining the best light on the sport right now.
I'm hoping they leave it alone, it was a bit bishy bashy LeClerc was a a bit childish on the podium. Fair play to the Honda guy getting properly involved with the champagne they are usually much more reserved. Serious question though. Gasley
There was a tweet from BBC Benson saying Verstappen had got a penalty but it was hoax - Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date
Yeah, I noticed that. Regardless of his obvious talent, I'm wondering if we have another pouting princess in the making...
Regardless of the outcome, this is now beyond rediculous that nearly 3 hours after the chequered flag we don't know who won. Come on F1/FIA get this sorted
Max was far enough ahead and on the correct side to be entitled to the corner and the little love tap didn't affect the outcome either, so should have been slam dunk from the beginning.
