    IIRC, the fine was for not nailing the window shut so the passengers bake when the heating's full on during the hottest day of the year.

    Hmm I don't think we got that one other here in the colonies...but I did love his books and Quentin Blake's illustrations particularly Revolting Rhymes.

    When the train is so crammed you're essentially being sexualy assaulted from every direction, there's no need for heaters even in the depth of winter.
