Feeling disappointed for my son who had an early night ready for a 5am start to Newquay. He's just been woken by a message to say that the Boardmasters festival starting tomorrow has been cancelled tonight (literally...) at the 11th hour as severe weather and flooding are forecast over the weekend :(
A lot of hard earned savings and time and effort have gone into this 6 day trip, the highlight of his summer...
It's not anyone's ill or injured, just much disappoint.

That even made the main news this morning.

Poor lad, that'd be gutting. Time to deploy Dad Mode and fruitlessly try and make him feel better about a crappy situation.

Mother nature be a cruel mistress (said in a west country accent)

Honestly thought its better its cancelled before someone is injured/deaded.

Absolutely, better the moaning and grumbling than the wailing and gnashing when someone is injured or killed in a flash flood or something collapsing in the gales.
As someone commented on the BBC news article, 'they don't make these decisions lightly'. I can see why they left it as long as they could; to be more sure of the weather.
2 days out, the forecast should be pretty accurate. It's just where the heavy rain is dumped or not is the unknown.
I wouldn't want to have to get in the car to Newquay to try & rescue my son and his friends 4x4 or not...

I'm not so far down the peninsula, in West Somerset but, when there is low pressure heading in from the Atlantic, the weather forecast (Met Office website) can change completely several times a day.

Nothing major in the grand scheme of things, but I have found that having the front of my case on increased GPU temps under full load by 5-6 degrees (water-cooled).

Attempted to reverse the fans but that just dumped a load of very warm air into my face and increased temps.

Going to have to modify (read bodge) the front of the case to increase airflow.

Surely even a 5-6 degree increase on a watercooled GPU would still put it well below a stock (or even AIB) one??

F*** it... looks like I need to source a cheap "pre-Zen 2" CPU to get my new mainboards' BIOS flashed.

I re-read the T&C & they want evidence you asked the retailer to check the BIOS... Yeah; Amazon barely have the skillz to retail what they sell, never mind know how the stuff works.

True... even if I have to fork out for a 'burner' 200GE, it'll be the first time in 20 yrs I'll have had a back-up/known working part.

Pooter dead. Again. Well, more kind of undead.

The dodgy PSU cable turned out to be a complete coincidence, and was not the source of my woe. The following morning the PC wouldn't power up. So I opened it up again and tried a different set of RAM and it worked.

This morning, same thing - no power. I pulled tha RAM and put the old kit back in and it powers up !?

    What. The. Actual. fug?

More Investigation required but, @Fingers66, I may need to borrow your CPU afterall. This has to be mobo issue - the PSU reports correct voltages on all rails,
