Did I hear right that if it's found against BoJo he'll just re-prorogue?

 

To use the BBC's summary:

This is the Government's advice, the Supreme Court could still specifically demand something else.

 

IIRC, there are 2 schools of thought on this -

A: Parliament remains prorogued because despite the reasoning the Queen has decided to prorogue. That prorogation then ends early [or doesn't] but as it's technically a new session of parliament, the govt basically has nothing to discuss until/unless a Queens Speech happens.

B: The prorogation is invalid and technically never happened, meaning parliament is technically in recess and can be recalled by the speaker. As it's the same parliamentary session, any existing business [such as the bills that were dropped because of the prorogation] can continue.

Option B kind of implies that the Queen should have passed judgement on the truthfulness of the request by Die Pfeiffe before approving it while option A would keep her neutral.
So reverse engineering from the stand point that the Queen should be neutral and not meddle in day to day politics I'd have to pick A.

Unanimous judgement: Issue is justiciable, and prorogation was unlawful and has been voided.

 

Just watched Andrew Bridgen and he's spitting feathers, i think I'm more happy about him being annoyed than the judgment.

 

Here we go.

So Bojo will apparently order another suspension. How will that be any less unlawful? Are there different (valid) reasons to prorogue?

 

So am I right in thinking that, they have just basically said that the Queen is irrelevant because the courts can over rule her and that the decision that she made was illegal?

As for suspending Parliament there is nothing I believe stopping him from doing it again is there?

No. The advice to the queen was unlawful, but this has no bearing on the Queen's authority (that being rigidly treated as ceremonial). From the judgement itsel:

The Queen isn't supposed to meddle in day to day politics but if advice to her can be unlawful then this ruling strengthens her power to reject whatever lie Boris tells her next?

 

We did it, our current political mess has filled the entire worldwide trends on twatter...

On another note, surely the ruling from the Supreme Court makes the decision by Labour to keep Boris trapped in power even more untenable than it was to begin with...
