    'Games are getting more difficult'

I'm pretty sure the opposite is true and I don't recall being properly frustrated by a game for years. Also, I had Ecco the Dolphin when I was 9. No game has been harder!

An eyebrow was raised at that when I was writing the piece, too. I think what Sony (or, rather, the patent authors) mean is that games are getting more complex, which ain't always the same thing.

More like, "Modern gamers are getting too stoned to play games without a nanny." I guess that wouldn't sound good in their announcement.

I'd rather never finish a game again than use a voice assistant...

Nah, I think what they really meant was 'games are getting more deliberately obstructive and frustrating,'

No doubt within days of this becoming functional Activision or Ubisoft will have all voice commands default to opening the in game store.

Even the voice assistant can be monetised, just rip off amazons stupid idea of selling celebrity voices...

To be fair, I would pay money to have Samuel L Jackson scream GET OUT OF THE STORE MOTHERF###ER! Every time someone attempted to access it from a device in my house, regardless of the game or platform.

Out of curiosity: for those of the opinion that games are getting to complex/convoluted/obtuse/etc; do you also miss the days when physical manuals were included with the game, or feel that modern games have too much hand-holding or enforced-tutorial-following? Because this 'voice assistant' sounds pretty much like "we built a program that mimics asking your sibling to look up and read out that bit of the manual so you didn't have to put down the controller".
