    Ryzen 7 2700X - £148 inc. delivery.

Should I have stumped up the extra/waited on a sale for the 3600/X? Probably. But I had price alerts set up and said i'd press the button if they got triggered... It didn't go under £150 all through black Friday or Christmas, so jumped on the chance while it was there.

Also, I want to start using a PC for more than just gaming (otherwise I might as well save a bunch of cash and join the console peasantry), so i'm gonna learn some MOAR SKILLZ and use those extra cores!

Just started planning for a new custom build I can take with me when travelling and while researching I found some specialist components that were too cheap to pass up,
    • ASUS PIO-B150M a uDTX motherboard (£53 from China)
    • 2 x VLP ADATA DDR4 8GB 2666MHz sticks (£50 from the UK)
I plan to pair with a 7700T, 1050ti and HD plex 200W A/C & D/C combo that I already have (I may upgrade to a 1650 or another 75W GPU) in a custom fully passive "flat" case.

Super happy that for just over a £100 outlay I can have the parts to build a super slim passive travel PC.

My employer won't let me install Ubuntu on my work laptop. Company policy says nothing about booting from an external drive. So to do that and prepare for a rig I'll build once back home in the Netherlands later this year, I bought these an MP600 1TB m.2 SSD and a Thunderbolt enclosure for it.

    A 1Kg lump of this:

Encased in wax, so it dries out less whilst maturing, it is creamier and softer than most mature cheddars. Made in Somerset, across the south of the county from where I live.

Good cheese is the food of the gods.

They started selling cheddar like this in smaller sizes (I think the whole wheel is 400g), either pure or with other flavours like Port or Whisky added (naturally, they say) and even a smoked one at our local supermarket last year. Love them, but boy they're bloody expensive.

I bought a 400g wheel from a shop in Wellington. I bought the 1Kg one direct, significantly cheaper way to buy it. They also sell a 2Kg wheel.

BTW, Waitrose sell 400g for £18, bought direct 1Kg costs £26.95 post free.

If you go to the Godminster shop to buy it they give you a rather fetching canvas shopping bag too :thumb:

With tyres that I wanted fitted for £270 delivered, as opposed to £305 retail, so modest saving of £35 but its a nice saving anyway.

I love this cheese, plus I get tons of it for free at work. Best before dates (and my waistline) be damned!

Does anybody still build their own wheels, or has self-building died out? I used to like building my own, complete control over spec and how they are put together. Plus the satisfaction of having made something myself.

I do build wheels from time to time, main problem is for the most part people prefer the convenience of just click a day or two later they appear an you can ride.
Hand build you have to choose what you want then wait for the parts then for them to be built, tensioned an tried.
That said I do get the odd order for them it usually is something daft, I had someone who wanted their Zipp 858 discs but change the hubs out for Extralite Cyber rear SPD-2 hubs. Front hub when it was delivered I actually had to check it was in the box it weighed 66g!
So basically yes people still build or want hand built wheels but it's usually something you cant get off the shelf. so a 36 spoke 24in single speed wheel or something unusual.
I may build a set for myself but I have quite a few wheelsets lurking so unless I re hub a set.
That said does anyone want to buy a set of Hope Pro4 36t hubs off me :hehe:

I though the moons was made of cheese?
