News All the Half-Life games are free for the near future

I would imagine that anyone who is even remotely interested in them already owns all of them anyway. Because they've been crazily cheap in just about every Steam sale for the last four years - IIRC, last summer had the lot at £1.74 or something daft...

 

Wish Valve would just do one.
Everyone on Planet Earth who has played these games to death wanted Half Life three and what did they do?
Come out with some half assed VR only title appealing to 0.00000000000000343% of the gaming population and you have to spend a bomb to get the kit to play it.

More likely owns them multiple times.

That said I have not play HL1: Source, I might give it a whirl if I find the time. Translation: I'll download the game and let it sit in my library until the offer expires with zero hours played.

 

At some point the entry price to great quality VR will be affordable to all. And at that point you will be in heaven.

Side note: Bit-Tech should organise a Ricochet night. That game was so good.

Added: just think of all those incredibly lucky coming-of-age PC gamers starting out on their PC gaming journeys and all those great games to plough through ...

 

... and then all they want to play is Fortnite.

I played all of Half-Life over different Steam accounts. This means, all I have on my own account (second account, because I lost the password to my former account ages ago; no access to the email I used to register it either, because the host went bankrupt) is HL2. I don't particularly feel like playing any of the games again, though. Am I weird?

 

Ugh ... true. I forget the mother’s I know who complain about their kids playing that game. I still cling to the idea that some kids may discover the older games and be tempted into level design and story writing.

Maybe, maybe not. I have to resist the temptation to replay a 20 year old game just because the words Half and Life get mentioned in a day ... I find that weird.

 

I do play Quake 1 & 2 every now and then. But HL just never had the same effect on me.

Misleading headline is misleading.
There's a difference between free for two months and free-to-play for 2 months.

 

I played Black Mesa for a while yesterday. Couldn't get into it at all.

 

I started today. Feels like HL1 with better graphics, quelle surprise. It's a good to very good game, but nothing mind-blowing.
