TIL that shredding XML in T-SQL does not need to be as complicated as I was making it.

I mean... don't get me wrong it's still a ballache, especially when you don't have an XSD for your query to refer to... And it's still slow as ****...

TIL - Ming-na Wen has become a "unique" Disney employee.

She's a Disney Princess (Fa Mulan), a Marvel Superhero (Melinda "The Cavalry" May - Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), AND a Star Wars bounty hunter (Fennec Shand - The Mandalorian)

TIL squirrel proof bird feeders are not squirrel proof.

They just climb to to the top and unlatch the fastening to get to the peanutty goodness.

We have crows that do similar. They peck through the tie holding the feeder to whatever it's attached to.

They're cunning little bar stewards. Somebody once told us to put chilli powder in with the bird food - apparently the capsaicin is an irritant in mammals but not birds.

Turns out we have mutant macho squirrels that love their spicy food, and I'm fairly sure they invited all their friends over as well :sigh: :wallbash:

Got visions of squirrels with problems getting food in faster than it leaves... :D

 Yeah, there was one. Now there are up to four of them. One was even balancing on the washing line eating fat balls.

Trouble is they are cute. Four of the little buggers, they seem to stay off them when the woodpecker is wanting a feed though.

So long as the woodpecker gets a feed i'm happy. And as a bonus the squirrels attract the kestrels, had one sat on our fence the other day.

Think i'll live with it, the small birds seem to get a good feed if our cat scares off the squirrels for a while.

We had a problem with Squirrels, right up until the reintroduced red kites, now we don't have a squirrel problem.

We have Red Kites above the house almost every day. I think there's plenty for them to eat on though.

Did see a rat for a while but that disappeared, they usually grow in numbers not disappear

They mainly go for dead stuff but will go for rodents like rats but will go for dozy birds at times. I remember hearing a very loud thump on my roof, looked out the window thinking something had fallen off, I was semi right, A kite had basically dive bombed a pigeon an was quite happily ripping into it on my front garden.
