The main problem with the herd immunity strategy is: Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date It sounds rational, if risky --as reflected in the fact that some WHO experts agree with this strategy, and some don't. Then again, there is a huge risk anyway, and total isolation until the pandemic burns out is impossible, so it's all stalling and containing until a vaccine becomes available.
Is there any reliable information yet on whether having Covid-19 and recovering actually gives you immunity from catching it again?
We isolated our youngest son on Friday. Too early to tell if it's Coronavirus, but he developed a pretty much incessant cough out of nowhere. He's also had two epic nose bleeds in one day, which isn't a listed symptom, so maybe it's something else.
The idea isn't necessarily to have it burn out from isolation, but just to get the rate of transmission down to manageable numbers to win time.
How does that work in practice mate? I mean I presume true isolation means no contact, with anyone, and every shared room to be cleaned down in between him using it. That's just not practical in reality with a kiddo I guess?
Just means limiting exposure - so he's spending most of his time on his room, on his PC - no great hardship for him, but the constant checking is getting on his nerves a bit. Then cleaning down the bathroom/kitchen/wherever. Much handwashing and cleaning of door handles etc... It's just a bit of a worry - he has MD, so he doesn't have a great immune system to begin with.
No real change I guess, i'm sure he'll make do. Aye I bet mate, I know how immune systems can be buggers. Hope all goes well, and you all stay sane. In reality I imagine it's going to be more stressful for you and his mam than him.
