I don't believe that that fits on the v1 Dan case . Might be good for the ncase though. As for noctua's obsession with brown, it's kinda grown on me over the years,. Though what I would give to have modern versions for my old papst fans
So, I was looking at mATX boards that might fit in the Ncase M1. The Asus ROG Gene XI thingy Flex-ATX board will (sort of) fit, if you bugger about with the PSU mount, but it's about £300. I ended up trawling through the product pages of all the big manufacturers looking for a 226mm wide boards with three slots, and found this: Just about everything else had a single 16x and two 1x slots, but this has a 4x slot It's far from perfect - It doesn't support OCing and has VGA and DVI, a single M.2 and no USB C, but it has 6 SATA ports, all of which are available when running a PCIE m.2 drive, and a SATA m.2 will still leave you with 5 SATA ports. It also has four RAM slots. Less than £70 shipped. TBH, other than a few half arsed benchmark runs, I haven't really bothered OCing my CPU, so I don't really care. Regardless, it fits! I did mod my ATX PSU bracket, so I have a fair bit of clearance, but using the vanilla bracket and a SFX to ATX adapter, it'd still fit.
@David if something fits with a hammer, I class that as a success. If something fits without a hammer, well, that's the stuff of legends.

Great spot there @David, lovely looking board to cram into your M1. All I found on that front was the Asrock H310CM-HDV/M2, which is somewhat less capable. That 4x slot makes quite a difference. I do have a dual M.2 4x card in stock, that takes an NVME and a SATA, making 3 if needs be. I don't have an ATX bracket for my M1, so this could well be a non starter. Keep in touch on this one. Tasty. What are you planning to use those extra PCI-E slots for? I guess if you're using a GPU then you'll only be able to access the third slot?
Way to cram it all in! Very nice. Won't the heatsink for the Apogee Drive fit? It looks a lot better than the arse-end of a DDC Yeah, the third slot is now home to a 10GbE NIC. I did have it running off a nvme>pcie adapter, using the 2nd m.2 on the back of my ITX board, but it was a wee bit flaky and would occasionally drop the connection; requiring a reboot to pick it up again.
@David , that is pretty sweet! Shows the genius of the NCase design to have that third expansion slot, whether it's for extra room for fans or for an additional card. And nice to see a board that has those extra PCI-E slots too.
Your M1 looks a lot more spacious with the PSU moved to the front; you can see daylight between the board and PSU! Fine looking rig there. My Noctua rear fan is on the case, maybe it'd be happier on the rear of the cooler... I am still interested in the J-Hack M2427 SF600 PSU mod that removes 17 ATX PSU cables and runs 12v over remaining 7 to the motherboard via a Pico PSU type adaptor. That'd save space and allow it to breathe better. @ Bawjaws, the 3 slot strategy was an inspired move by Necere. I am thinking of putting a PCI slot mounted 2.5 drive caddy in mine, but at the moment, the 1TB HDD backup drive behind the front panel in the ODD space works a treat!
Well, here’s what my M1 looks like with everything crammed in. Now just need to get the RAM to play nicely, which is proving a headache, each stick passes memtest on its own on XMP (3600 CL16), but put both in and it doesn’t like it. I know, I was being slightly melodramatic Though that means space for a thick-rad AIO to cool a 4950X later on - should one ever exist and I can afford/justify it The RAM is happy in dual channel at at a slightly lower speed, though that doesn’t seem to affect gaming so I’m not really worried.
