    Evening,

Rebuilt my rig today moving to AM4. Bought an MSI x570 Gaming Pro Carbon, Ryzen 3900x and 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair LPX 3600mhz memory.

After a bit of fiddling to get everything posting correctly, I'm in a position where it will only POST with 1 dimm in slot 1 or 2. Either dimm will work in that slot at either 2133 mhz or 3600 mhz but nothing when I attempt to add in the second dimm at either frequency.

I'm self isolating for 14 days and this was my treat but running at 8GB makes me sad! Therefore any pointers would really be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Plastic

Bit of a long shot, but there isn't something funny about the sticks, where for some reason known only to the factory, they're not actually a matched pair? I do know Asus boards will use all four DIMM slots with mismatched pairs (I have a board running 2x8GB Vengeance at 1600MHZ plus 2x8GB Vengeance at 1866MHz fine), but an ASRock board I had wouldn't even boot to BIOS unless all four sticks were identical (but matched pairs, obvs). Couldn't even be different brands at same speeds.

@Plastic_Manc You are putting them in the correct A2 and B2 slots I presume?

1 stick has to be in A2
2 sticks have to be in A2/B2
A1 and B1 are only used in 4 stick setups

Nothing? Not even the debug LED's?

I'd expect the DRAM LED to be lit if it was a problem with the RAM, if you're not even getting that maybe the board is defective.

    Hi,

Yes, correct slots for the dimms (although I am running 16GB single channel for the moment in A1, B1). For clarity, I get a fully lit up motherboard with the CPU and DRAM Leds lit up also.

Part of me thinks it's poor RAM but loathed to go and buy another set just now as I encountered a few game crashes at 3600mhz, but all good at 3200.

Have you tried A2, B2 as they're the primary slots.

According to your manual A2/B2 is the only configuration to use two sticks. They will only work properly in those slots.

Still didn't get past the CPU and RAM LED. I'm really starting to think it's the memory.

This is going to sound really odd, but i struggled with boot issues when i upgraded to x570 + 3900x too. It seemed once i used the 8 AND 4 pin cpu inputs it then worked fine. Worth a shot if nothing else :)

For info, I had the same issue when I got my 1700 and x370 board, it was the cpu that wasn't quite seated correctly, I reseated and all was fine
