Todays little effort was about 2 lines! and not the ones that make me happy... After a bit more of a sand and now some black shadow you can see that the left side has a small but very noticeable bow , creating a low spot. No amount of sanding is ganna fix this....The right side is worse as the whole side is warped and low. As mentioned before the panels are heat bent and this gives a rounded edge and for the look i want, i'm after a sharp edge. Ive started with the right side, the larger area to work on. The flat edge of the ruler shows the gap. This is low and will need to be filled. A quick pass with some light weight bondo and a ruff sand and the magic line is starting to show. Still a few spots to work on but there's a proper shard line now. Another layer of bondo and light sand and pretty much done for this side. A sharp clean straight line. Left side tomorrow
Today's effort was working on the top vent modules. I wanted a design that was modular would actually breath and work with the rest of theme. i'll make a second set from mesh and decide later what one works best. I may change the colour to silver, but will wait and see how the black contrasts with the gunmetal grey of the case.
Louvers! Finally! I knew you couldn't resist the strong mental wave I was sending your way silently urging you to make them.
Small update as we head into the long Easter weekend. Decided to add some active cooling, where i'll be heading heat is going to be a factor. I can always remove if i decide to try passive again.
She's a chunky one. I'm surprised you didn't make two brackets to mount to the threaded rods instead.
Sure is! im not used to working on such a big scale but it's nice to have the freedom for a change Attaching to the bars was def the first choice but i decided that i wanted the front grill to "flip down" i wont be running any fine mesh so being able to drop the front for qik fan cleaning will be a bonus. Cheers Mate tyvm i had a big spazz this weekend and had a massive clean out, decided to go for the "minimalist clean look this time This is prolly the 3rd go ive had at making this front panel...... the first one was a all flat front..... it looked nice .... but "blunt" like Cheap's said before "Chunky"! So i had a go at tapering the outer 4 or 5 blades.... to sorta look like side vents... it's hard to see with just the frosted clear but i'm hoping to get some paint on them through the week and post it up.
Top vent modules is my favourite part right now. Are you going to paint the front blades with the same color ?
I was thinking black for the front grill as well the rest of the case will be metallic grey with maybe a few silver accents with grey tinted plex side windows
Cheers pcc again thanks for the inspiration I wanted a rear boxed type shroud to mount the fans too! and to add some looks. The PSU side is a little different and still needs 2 more sections added (tomorrow) A slider system will allow to attach and i'll decide on a clip system or screws to hold in place. This will help a little extra air to the PSU The fans can be mounted internal or external
The like button only works once... That bottom pic is such a great shape. It's very UN-square. Keep going in this direction, please.
Thanks Cheaps Today was back to the work of sanding paint and putty...... All the time consuming stuff that's not a lotta fun. First up was to finish off the PSU side of the fan duct a bit more shaping and more sanding.... Ruff as guts for now but done. This should help get a little air to the psu. Add some contours to both sides then off for some primer.... It ain't pretty but have faith Faith comes in the form of putty While i was in the mood to putty i thought i put some love into the roof ! Look at that line Few spots that spray putty just wont fill.... so putty time. LOL looks like an old car i used to drive
Looks I a car I used to drive too. My older brother must have put $200 of bondo on the front fender, and never shaped it. I went out and found a new fender for it instead.
