So it was finally mentioned, what we all kind of knew, that some aspects of social distancing will continue all year.

What that means in practice, not sure.

In the meantime i'm sure HMG will resist urges, even from The Times, to extemd the transition period - probably hoping the UK comes up with a vaccine that we can use to lever trade deals.

From my experience most people want to work and not be dependent on government handouts.
    Virus or no virus.
I can't speak for these people but it could be they believe that risking the economy would end up with worse consequences than lifting the lockdown and social distancing.
This may be the current virus forecast but it's not a reality so it's peoples feels over reals at the moment.
It's interesting you would bring up 'panic', back in the 'day' we would have had localized panic, today we have globalized panic.

Unfortunately, because the guy is making so much sense that it hurts, he'll be ignored as we can't have that kind of sensible behaviour in this world gone mad.
My shopping experiences lead me to believe that people are already getting bored and are ignoring it (more than they were originally).
Which is a very valid argument! (P.S. I know you're just presenting that as a theory, neither agreeing nor disagreeing with that statement).

Where I am it's like there's nothing happening. Last time I went out to the shops there were people playing basket ball in one of the public spaces, people were out walking and riding. People don't wear masks, and are quite happy to socialise - I've seen half a dozen different people going to neighbours this week. I don't think many people in this immediate area gives the slightest of shits. Which is weird, because a number of them are in risk categories.

Shopping has always been a bun fight here - some in hazmat suits, some trying to climb in your pocket.

But then out and about, even in the woods, people keep their distance.

Likely amazed she managed to stretch "**** our constituents, we want money" into so many extra words.

As discussed in the CNN interview with the guy who interviewed her, she does not have the power to decide anything (typical of US city mayors) and her role is as a "booster" (like a cheerleader) for the city. She can call for Vegas to reopen, be seen as championing her city (and be visible whilst being irrelevant) but not take any responsibility for it happening or not happening.

Must of been a slow news day as all sorts of idiots are getting media attention by saying stupid things (© Trump). To them it is all about getting your name in the media, not about what you actually say (that is actually irrelevant).

There are a LOT of people who shouldn't be given the oxygen of media coverage and who I believe would simply vanish if it were denied.

    There's also three variants, Covid-19A, 19B and 19C.

19A was in Wuhan, not sure on the rest of China. 19B and 19C mutations are the only ones in the rest of the world.

What differences in symptoms and outcomes, if any, the mutated variants have from 19A is unclear.

With regards to nicotine, interesting observation to say the least.

Also as pointed out elsewhere, 'The Strip', isn't technically part of the City of Las Vegas.

I tell you what man they'll be high as kites LOL.

I remember when I first tried patches to quit. Must have been about 2001. The dose they start you on is massive, so I had no issues with wanting to smoke. But I was out of my head. I had this dream that if I concentrated enough I could levitate. And I got so good at it I got stuck to the ceiling and couldn't get down. I then awoke in a bath of sweat. I had soaked the bed completely. I had to sleep on two towels for about two weeks until the dose was dropped.

    False.

You can track the various mutations as they are recorded via Nextstrain's dashboard. The one I have linked to labels the clades by letter type (A and B for first branching, A1/A2/B1/B2 for second branching, A1a/A1b/B1a/B1b for third branching, etc) and colours them by country of detection. As you can clearly see, all branches have representation in all regions.

Well information from various sources is always a good thing.

I was posting from memory, which is obviously not firing on full cylinders - Cambridge University

Although they suggest not all variants are in all regions.

There could be some merit to it, time will tell.
The Casinos represents 75% of Nevada's tax revenue, this is an important piece of information to have to better understand where she is coming from.

She's under pressure to get things done.
