If you read what @KayinBlack has to say about the area, how can we be sure the prosecutor is telling the truth, unless the video is made public or presented in court?

 

Even if all that were true that the prosecutor says, is having a Police force seen as too much like socialism (you know, a government proving a service - i mean that's almost communist!). Instead locals should take matter into their own hands to dish out capital punishment to someone they believe has stolen something?

Messed up no matter what.

 

A valid point. Let's hope that they're not stupid enough to forge one if they've lied.

What's the betting that what they actually have is footage of him exiting a building and starting to run.

 

Suspicion isn't enough. I remember 10 years back, a series of rapes occurred in a nearby town. After a composite sketch circulated, local bus drivers pinned the deeds on one of their colleagues. They started to bully the guy every single day, telling everyone that he was the rapist. They drove him into a depression 'til eventually, he hung himself. A few weeks after his death, the police arrested the real rapist.

 

That's terrible and seems to be happening more and more wherever you look.
We had a similar case just this week -- a high school girl claimed she was raped by a classmate, he killed himself and no one knows if the allegations were even true because no charges were filed, no investigation conducted.

 

From what I read this morning, there were no outstanding reports of a "serial burglar" in the area.
The murder took place in February. The father is an ex-cop with friends still in the department.

TL;DR - These men weren't charged because the police saw the video, they were charged because the world saw the video.

I vividly remember saying to my wife, as we were going to bed to the TV news on 15 November 2016, "he won't win, the American people won't let such an idiot become president, they are too smart for that."

Sigh.

 

I think America did us a solid. They saw the Brexit vote and, deciding we should not stand alone, proclaimed loudly: "We shall not be outdone in the political fcukwittery stakes!"
