Yeah, I think it was only a matter of time before the "classic" marines were phased out after Primaris was introduced. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't looked at the cost of renewing injection moulding machines.. Still, the Primaris models are pretty cool. Especially the newer models now they seem to have finished "testing the water". I'm curious how they're going to handle some things, because Terminators are.. well. They're one of the defining units IMO. But I don't know the fluff behind Gravis armour, so.
Ignoring the sceptical view that GW are just trying to extract more money from their fan base (y'know, like any company has to in order to survive), I assume they want Primaris to take over as they are more anatomically correct.
I am certainly all over the new Gravis units. It appears that they're armed with Melta guns, rather than heavy weapons, but anything at the moment is speculation. Loving the look of the Judiciar! Absolute badass-looking unit. Not too sold on the blade veterans for my own force. They seem too ornate for Raptors. Then again, a bit of kit-bashing might be in order. I've never been a big fan of bikes, but the new models are certainly nicer than the old. Still, I will wait for the starter box to get a nice chunk of new stuff. The missus says she'd be interested in getting the Necrons, so that would be cool. I'd be more than happy to give her my old 3rd Edition army.
Exactly, given the fluff, the primaris are exactly what marines should be in terms of physical size when compared to a regular human. Well ok, maybe they could stand to be a wee bit taller, but then might look a little odd. Can't win really. I'm quite liking them so far, there are some absolutely cracking models in there. I would however, love to see GW really take advantage of the whole modular nature of marines in terms of the set development. Just ddo a basic set of bodies, legs, backpacks, and heads, and then do separate upgrade sets for the weapons, ensuring that all will fit. The same could work very easily for Orks. Standard boys then upgrade sets to produce the other more specialised guys. Yes, fully understand this (the company I work for uses some injection moulded stuff, plus I have done some model design when I worked at Forgeworld), I just wish that they wouldn't use this as a reason for doing the time / location / situationally limited release models, such as the new Catachan ones. A MUCH better alternative would be to have pre-orders, and use that money to sort out enough moulds to fulfill the orders such that greedy scalpers don't get to ebay everything for £400...
So I finished off the wolves Squad 1 https://i.imgur.com/R0mIXQH.jpg Squad 2 https://i.imgur.com/4UPOkNq.jpg I'm also stupidly excited about the new edition just for primaris bikes
New edition starter box is being previewed next weekend (13th) in an online preview. Fabius Bile is going up for pre-order on Saturday as well along with the "war of the spider" book for Psychic awakening.
Glad to see the assault primaris finally being released. Once they add jump packs to them, they'll be gobbled up. Loving the new Chaplain, Judiciar and Eradicators from the SM side of things. The entire Necron side of that Indomitus box is just incredible!
Not a big space marine fan but I do quite like the necrons in there. Hopefully someone at my local club will be looking to split a box to keep my spending down.
I'm personally really excited for the bikes, I've decided to start painting up some primaris as white scars in advance
The thing that most irks me is that this box set, Indomitus, is showing signs of being a limited run. And has a bunch of new models in it. I feel like it's going to go the same way as the Sisters box did, but more expensive. Which means I either need to be patient, and wait, or buy the set and sell off what I don't want.
Commence eye twitching... I don't have the money to get the full set, even saving for it won't be possible (I'm on 80% pay currently and my wife hasn't started her new job yet), and if things are going to be limited run then the ebay scalpers are going to be having a field day... Plus it will sell out so fast as those sort of $£%*ers will buy up 5 or 10 sets in one go just to break down and sell.
Yup, exactly my thoughts on the subject. I hate artificial limitations on runs of products that are going to be mass produced, undoubtedly on most of the same frames, just at a later date to drive initial sales. Especially when ****head scalpers exist, and more importantly, some bellends are willing to pay the absurd price that gets charged by the aforementioned scalping ******s. Personally, I want the Judicar/judiciar/whatthefuckevername, the shield dudes and the dude with the banner pole thing. Basically the least Primaris Primaris. The necrons and the rest of it can be used as a boat anchor as far as I'm concerned. But I expect that is what most other people want too.
I collected/played fantasy/40k primarily back in the late 90s, and i lost track of a lot of the lore, but where has all this fancy kit come from? The impression i had is that the tech they had was kept working effectively by "magic", and once it was gone it was gone? so where have the 'Primaris' marines come from with all their fancy "new" kit?
I probably shouldn't answer, because I'm pretty much out of the loop with regards to lore, but. As I understand it; Crazy robot dude from the Adeptus Mechanicus uses some possibly heretic stuff to create a suit that maintains the status quo on Rowboat Girlyman's situation, while also allowing him to kick some heretic ass. Rowboat decides that the Imperium of Man has basically gone to **** since the heresy. Asks aforementioned crazy dude to make some sweet new toys. Said toys become the Primaris marines as we know them. There's some magical mcguffin fluff stuff (I keep seeing 'rubicon Primaris' mentioned) that means not all Space Marines can switch over to the new Primaris platform, but of course the big names all seem to do it just fine, hence the re-sculpting of key named Marines and introductions of new ones where the existing ones can't really switch due to armour types not existing or being released by GW yet (Thinking of Lysander here, since he's in TDA, but there doesn't appear to be a TDA equivalent in Primaris).
lol, what? What happened to Papa Smurf? What happened to the Emperor? Where can i find out "what happened previously on W40k" (and fantasy for that matter, wtf is the "age of sigmar"?!
