Should make it more interesting with 3 cars to get past before he can try and reel in bottas. Being on the 3rd row I can see him maybe picking up 2 places on the start IF he gets a blinder, but having max in front on a longer first stint will hurt. Maybe he'll do a 3 stop to mix it up? Go out super hard on the first set of tyres.
Well, that took care of Max. On another note: looking rather disappointing for Renault so far, D Ric usually outperforms the car on Sunday, so not the best of signs that he can't get past....
Lance Stroll has an issue with his car. Nobody is brave enough to say that the issue with the car is that he's driving it.
Ricciardo's car also looks fubar'd Stroll is also in a broken Tracing Point Maybe we've hit the limits of how far teams can push those hybrid V6s... cos that's a Honda, a Renault and Merc engine all with issues...
They should be able to make them reliable. In the 80s turbo era, Honda were seeing 1500 bhp in qualifying trim and, I think, maybe 1200 in race trim, from 1.5L.
And how long did those engines last though? weren't they going through multiple engines in a weekend? They hybrids have to last multiple races.
That was also the era of an engine for practice, an engine for qualy and an engine for race day. Even then the majority of the field would finish just over half the races, McHonda of the era were the freaks only having 4-5 blow ups a year. #Edit. Checko's going to get a podium for a Mercedes 123...
Penalty, so apparently I have inheritied The Curse of Murray somewhere along the line. Bottas lights to flag, Charles Leclerc somehow makes second and Land Norris in third. Great weekend for McRenault and Merc, random assault of randomness for everyone else. Haha Red Bull. F1 D20, looking forward to next week.
He seems to make his own luck, didn't see him make any mistakes today. Unlike a certain pair of multiple world champions.
To be honest, I'd forgotten about that but, engine technology and the materials used have advanced greatly and they are not yet pushing them as hard now. Autosport say Mercs are closing in on 1000bhp.
Wasn't Hamilton's weekend was it, double penalty's. I'm torn with wanting him to equal the record of championships but I'd love to see Bottas get 1 too. Norris getting one would be amazing but I think that's a few years off yet but I reckon he will at some point.
