My GPU has had trouble with overheating with demanding 3D titles. I moved from the Phanteks Evolv ITX to a Meshify C with more fans and cooling has improved but the GPU can still overheat. I'm waiting for the next-gen release before I upgrade to something newer, cooler and a bit faster for 1440p/4k gaming.

The last few days my desktop has been locking up while playing undermine. I know the ambient temperature is high and I don't get much air circulation and I don't have any fans, but is this common?

According to CPUID HWMonitor these are the temps while typing this out, I cleared max/min

Thats a 25C delta T at idle, I'd say thats fine. What are the load temps?

Hard to test load, but the computer will lock up. These are the temps after watching some youtube.
The temps are very chaotic, ranging for 40s-52 and up to 62, but really bouching up and down every second

I tried running FUTUREMARK 3DMARK but it crashed within a few seconds.

CPU cooler might need new tim and re-seating.

Seems I needed to further decrease the GPU frequency, hopefully it can hold out until I upgrade.

Is there anything in that monitoring program for performance limits?

HWInfo has flags to tell you if any GPU limits have been hit and the card throttles. Might help diagnosing any issues.

My ancient gtx970 was idling at +25c from ambient until I stripped the card and replaced the TIM which dropped it to +15c. You could probably have plastered a wall with the amount of TIM on it though.

Yeah, it's the CPU temps that catch my eye, not the GPU.

I'd be looking at that as first probable cause of issues.

I mean modern intel is pretty decent with that, I had cracked paste under the lid of my 8700k so it would regularly hit 100c and throttle down without issue when running 100% load.

I will try reseating the CPU when it cools down and I don't feel lazy.
reducing the GPU frequency seems to have resolved the issue for now (Max frequency -5% and more aggressive fan curve). I played undermine in windowed mode and the CPU temps were actually more consistent than during idle.
The annoying this is that every time my computer crashes, GPU settings reset to default and I need to remember to adjust them or it will crash again.

Last night my Kingpin reached 71c. A new record. Sadly it then started to rain, which meant I had to close all of my windows.

I soon learned the error of my ways.

    Rebuild the whole system.
It's the only way to be sure.

Yes, definitely overheating, but I've found that if I sit with my feet in a basin of cold water for ten minutes I feel much better for an hour or two.

Oh, computer? Yeah, it is running a bit hotter but it's within the limits of expected operating temps. The fans are turning a bit faster mind.

My wife was overheating while live streaming so I stole her pants and gave her a mop bucket full of water to put her feet in.
We don't get any breeze, she closes the sliding door and curtains to control the light and can't use a fan because of fan noise.

I keep forgetting the AMD tuning settings reset to default every time my computer locks up.

I hope you're using 'North American' terminology here young man, and only removed Mrs S' trousers. What you get up to in your own time is fine, but we may not want to know the NSFW details!!!!!

PC temp not ambient I hope.......:p

    :worried:

Part of me doesn't want to know what kind of live streaming this is but I never listen to that part of me.

NA terminology, but I did knowingly type this. I could say shorts but I think it pretty much sounds the same. Does anyone here wear trousers during zoom calls?
Her content is a comedy, and if even a bit of extra skin is detected by AI she will get an automatic warning and a very short window for compliance.

GPU temp. Then again it is screaming its balls off at 2150mhz so I can forgive it for that :D
