To be fair Cain has been part of Johnson's orbit for a while working with him when he was foreign secretary and is currently director of comms for downing street. His CV is varied https://www.theguardian.com/politic...-spin-doctors-life-as-mirror-chicken-revealed

    Partially.

In theory it avoids farmers dropping dead from starvation when subsidies based on EU rules end on 1st of January.

    However:
The details haven't been released yet, so it remains to be seen if the subsidies will be sufficient and well targeted or not.

    Three possibilities:
    1: Blatant lie, again.
2: Getting the hell out of Downing Street and the public eye before excrement hits the rotary implement.
3: Got handsey with the intern/secretary/Carrie Symonds.

    I choose door no. 2.

Followed by years of bitter blogging about how "his" Brexit could have been awesome if only the politicians hadn't ****ed it up.

No, no, no - he's ready for the next phase of his career. I've already offered him a position as the punch bag at our local gym.

I imagine he'll find a role at the inevitable TrumpTV.

Or more likely move on to the next country to destabilise on Bannon's list.

I'd bet we won't be that lucky and he'll just be moved further away from scrutiny but be given increased influence over Tory policies.

Yeah, I'm going with him having put his hands somewhere he shouldn't have, that was too sudden to be part of his grand plan.

Pity this didn't happen two years ago.

I don't think it'll make any difference. It may even be for show so it looks like BoJo is a 'strong' PM.

Smoke and mirrors but it is nearly pantomime season.

A bit like Cain being offered the chief of staff role, I thought it could be to keep MPs in check after the Biden win but him rejecting it seems like it was just to pave the way for Cummings to take to the stage.

That or, given the timing and a dose of cynicism - Biden has made it abundantly clear where Boris stands.

I mean it could well be coincidence that they've both gone within days of Biden being elected...

I don't think Boris makes such connections. He's pretty screwed with Biden anyway, unless he intends to protect the GFA at all costs, which would mean leaving the Irish borders open, which would mean leaving all the other EU borders open and hoping the EU responds in kind. Which would also mean agreeing to all of the EU's trade, immigration and right to work demands, leaving the UK effectively under the EU's direct control (the irony!).

I would have no problem with that outcome, but I suspect many of the people who voted for him would be trying to string him up for such a thing.
