don't worry the 3060's are coming to market soon, that will suck even more fab time since they seem to have capacity to spare
You can still get the at reasonable prices, but they are and you've gotta be quick. Basically only Scan, Currys and Aria that I've seen them at un-inflated prices.
Would it continue to work when Ethereum move to a different algorithm? They say they are moving from proof of work to proof of stake soon. Seems rather stupid to only limit to one cryptocurrency. People would just mine something else.
"Proof of stake" isn't a different algorithm, it's a completely different way of mining. "Proof of work" means "do lots of really complex and ultimately pointless computation in order to prove you're serious about this, and get rewarded as a result;" "Proof of stake" means "invest in the cryptocurrency to prove you're serious about this, and get rewarded as a result." A proof-of-stake coin has no need for a GPU, because it's not doing cryptographic busywork to secure the chain - it's relying on the majority coin-holders agreeing instead. You don't need a shed full of RTX 3090s, you just need a bunch of cash invested.
The AIB designs are really winding me up - the PCB regularly stops well short of the end of the heatsink, but they usually extend the backplate to the end and add a few token holes in it. Surely the cooling is going to be much better if they just stop the backplate where the PCB stops?
Depends on the heatsink design, it'll probably be designed ith the airflow with a backplate in place and remocing it will make it worse. Ot they leave it to protect the fins from damage. I'm sure if a more open design aided cooling it would be more open though, and they'd be touting it as a feature...
Mediocre card overpriced and unavailable. Think I best go and whisper sweet nothings to my 1080 to keep it going. .
Honestly, I hope his bum hole seals up and he gets force-fed baked beans for the remainder of his miserable existence. ..and I'm not even looking for a new card.
Currently 1314 people on the Asus 3060 dual page on scan only 32 on the strix oc EDIT: on scan there were only a 2 for £300 that I got a look at. A few at £360-380 most most £400+. The strix oc was going for £520!!!
I must admit i tried to get one for my 2nd PC .. then i see the prices. My goodness. That really is taking the piss , its barely a glorified 2060s
https://www.cclonline.com/product/3...-Card-ROG-STRIX-RTX3060-O12G-GAMING-/VGA6054/ £630 on CCL .. And im in a queue to put it in the basket ..
The reviews have been out for 3 hours, they've shown the pretty lame performance and people have STILL paid as much as a 3060ti for them. Mental. Edit: That's only £20 less than I paid for a 3070!
I got one because I panicked but I'm not entirely sure I actually want it. It was only £10 cheaper than the 3060ti I had in my basket last time around...
I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out it was just one big circle jerk of shops buying from each other with bots slapping on an extra £100 each go...
