Well I have been on my own a lot... but its more me shouting at it for getting stuck under the sofa even though there's 'no-entry' tape there!!!!

 

Picked up a pair of bose qc35s, series 1, just under £100. Love my QC25s, but the jump to bluetooth i hope will be worth it. My kid thinks all cables should be tugged on lol

 

I have the QC25s and I bought one of these for bluetooth:



I haven't used it for more than 30-40 minutes, at a time so not sure on battery life yet, but it's pretty good.

Still, £100 for a pair of QC35s is quite the steal!

 

Not sure that will convince a jury mate.

Cheap, passably small, and not horrendous to look at.

Although I am tempted to work out how to better hide it all..

Hmm, now those look interesting. I have been using a set of Creative Gigaworks T40 for years and whilst they do sound pretty nice, the power board is starting to show signs of their typical problem and creating some noise so i may have to replace them too at some point. still debating just getting a semi decent stereo amp and using a set of Wharfdale Diamond 9 bookshelf speakers that I have kicking about or even putting my old (late 80s) Technics kit to some use again. Meh, we shall see.

 

I toyed with waiting it out - I'm planning an upgrade to the speakers in the lounge, and I feel like building my own amp would satiate my desire to build a sub, but space is a premium in this room, so I opted for the smaller stuff. It also helped that it was the impatient decision, which was more appealing to my 'immediate gratification' parts.

They're.. Okay, I've only really watched youtube videos with 'em, but for 70€ I wasn't expecting them to light the world on fire.

Still, better than a monitor.

 

I've been importing dodgy parts from China

Today some Wifi 6 AX210 wifi cards to match my new APs, about £15 quid each and work a treat > 1Gbs transfers over wifi

Also purchased a 5G mobile broadband router, whilst most are using a Huawei CPE Pro/Pro2 I didn't want to spend that much as a backup internet device, so took a punt on a China Unicorn VN007 at 40% the price of the Huawei, works a treat, now to figure out how to setup pFsense such that I can use both fibre and an 5G for all the bandwidths Mwha ha ha ha

Might seems a bit dodgy ordering from Aliexpress and it definitely sends me down a rat hole looking at some in appropriate curiosities that pop up but all seems to arrive in good time.

 

See i looked at those and though great idea, but read too many reviews having issues with the bluetooth range, and only about 6 hours battery (which is fine but id have to charge everynight), So thought ill check ebay, was ultra surprised when i saw i could get them that cheap, that wasnt even the cheapest pair, i missed a few, its a series one, but i care not for google voice or alexa or that so its of no loss to me. Suppose to be up to 30 hours playback so more than happy with that

 

Yeah, I kept seeing them around the £50 mark and then recently they popped up at £27. Range isn't an issue for me and I only got them because I'm fed up of snagging the cable when I'm on the treadmill.

 

I'm just trying to process that.

Plus side they came today. Sound very nice, multidevice paring, but the range seems sucky, read a reset of it on the device and the connected device helps, ill check that later

 

New specs time. Luckily only £93, and I might be able to claim almost half of that back from work.

 

A couple of these at twenty quid a pop before they go up to stupider prices.



Tidying and ditching my old boxes may encourage me to get off my fat ass and do some of those jobs i need to.
