Build quality is okay, but it's pretty plasticky and lightweight and time will tell how durable it is. It's certainly not in the same league as an MX Master, but as I said, it was £15 or thereabouts so it's all good. And it does seem to be helping relieve discomfort so I am a happy camper.

 

For anyone who suffers from wrist or hand pain when using a mouse, a vertical is very well worth trying. I've been using them for years. On a large Evoluent at the moment, it fits my hand well and I like the three main buttons (third set to do a double click on one press).

Aye, the Evoluent series were on my list too, but a) they are expensive and b) I wasn't sure which size would be best. Figured the Anker was a cheap way to test the waters

 

I would definitely recommend learning sone arm/wrist/hand stretches and exercises, massively helped my pain! Plus I found doing some deep tissue massage on my forearms really helped as the muscles had got so tight! A lot of the pain comes from tbe joints and muscles holding one position for long periods!

 

I started with a cheaper one too but, it didn't take long to see that it brought real benefits.

Also, on topic - I needed a deep 6mm hex socket, and well, one thing kinda led to another:

 

Various bits of Ikea BESTÅ and several litres of Valspar "Waiting Game" paint for the playroom snug (because little kids have playrooms, when you're 8 you may as well be an adult, and it's a snug)



Whilst I'm pleased with the outcome, I'm totally underwhelmed with BESTÅ. More is hollow than I expected, even for Ikea, and there's huge amounts of play in most of the units until they're fixed together and to the wall... which makes a difficult job of marking out the fixings so that it's all square. In the end I clamped and temporarily bracketed most of the units together and then teased it all into place to be centred/square, then marked the fixing points, took it all down and then re-assembled permanently.

I'm not sure anyone that's not an experienced DIYer would have any hope of getting something like this together without gaps, funny angles, off the level etc.

But, still delighted with the outcome, and given "proper" fitted units would have been at least 5x the cost I don't mind a few (perhaps several) hours of effort.

Still undecided what to do about the cables. Planned to chase some conduit into the (solid) wall when I started, but decided I could figure something out that was less invasive and just as tidy after the fact. I'm not sure what that something was, but now I'm thinking maybe I should have put in the extra work up front.

 

Put a plant in front of the cables, boom, future you's problem.
