No restriction on single card is the way to go. Now that SLI is gone for most people, pretty much all gamers will be using single card setup.

Gamer =/= Don't want to mine on the side.

Trouble is they've got around the multi setup already.

Cheap dummy plug in the hdmi port, the gpu thinks it's linked to a monitor, hashrate unleashed.

What!? what kind of stupid limiter logic have nvidia implemented?

Would be easier to do a count: if nvidia GPU in a system >1, then enable limiter.

I totally didn't see this coming hence why I don't understand why people were rejoicing when NVIDIA announced the limit.. lol.

Yup, completely bypass any handshake apparently and with nvidia releasing a beta driver with no limiter on miners are laughing

True, as soon as they announced any sort of cap I don't think anyone thought it would really last.

Imagine the PR nightmare Nvidia would face if the anti mining mechanism tanked performance in any non mining application...
So it was always only going to be a relatively basic "protection".

But look on the bright side:
With the limit defeated miners have no reason to buy the dedicated mining cards over normal cards, so when the current mining craze ends there will be plenty of used cards on the bay of flea that are actually useable.
