I was in le 'opital once and a visiting anaesthesiologist put a cannula on the side of my wrist, saying they're more comfortable there. The ward nurse saw it, tutted, pulled it out, and reinserted it on the top. The anaesthesiologist came by, saw what the nurse had done, removed it and put it back again... and this time wrapped it in a ridiculous amount of micropore tape to discourage any further fiddling.

    Lovely. Not.

The fact that leaving shopping trollies out isn't a capital offence.

Especially when a supermarket is at its busiest.

In general I find supermarkets to be an absolutely awful experience. Too big, too noisy, too many other people. Absolutely hate them.

You talking about the lazy ****ers who leave the empty trolley by their car and drive off?

Hah everytime I see comments about trolleys I always get reminded of the theory it can be used to determine whether people are able to self govern or not, based on the idea it's objectively the 'right' thing to do, but with absolutely no reward for doing it, or punishment for not.

I love the lack of selection in Aldi, keeps the shop small, decisions are easy to make, people don't dither trying to choose the right pack of ham. I know where everything is even though I rarely go and I'm in and out in no time

What if, instead of returning it, you zip-tie it to a badly parked car?

I can barely tolerate shopping in Aldi, it is the worst grocery shopping experience. The aisles are crammed way too close together and it's always absolutely rammed full of people.

YPLAC store got you covered there: https://yplac.co.uk/shop/.

Of course, as @David points out....

    That's the badger.
Yup, I hate other people too. Life would be a lot more pleasant without most of them.
I remember reading something about how putting your trolley away was one of two basic indicators of whether a person was 'good' or not (i.e. worth knowing). The other indicator was how someone treats workers who are serving them (waiters, checkout staff etc).

I also reserve the right to mention this topic again in a few months' time when I've forgotten I've moaned about it already. Assuming I haven't been sent to jail for suddenly flipping and murdering someone who hasn't put their trolley away.

That's one of the very few things Germany has actually gotten right: you have to put a 50 Cent, 1 Euro, or 2 Euro coin in to release the shopping cart. You can also use a plastic token. You do not get that back unless you return the trolley. Sure, you can jimmy it, but who'd put in the effort? Not even the chavs around here do.

Lidl do the same here, we have a metal token in the car.

Been the same in many UK supermarkets for ages. But it still doesn't stop people putting their trolleys in the most contrived position possible and blocking the entire trolley bay. Some of the things you see people do with coin-operated trolleys literally defies logic, I just can't figure out the mechanics of how they did it. Like shoving trolleys back to back to make the key-chain-thing from one trolley reach the other, but somehow ending up blocking the bay with two trolleys that are now jammed together horizontally.

Is that punishment for bad parking or the decision to purchase a Nissan Joke?

OK, enough, hands up, I give.
I am one of those that y'all are rallying against, but only at one store, I will gladly abandon my trolley rather than walk 3 aisles over to deliver it to the right dumping ground.

It was always a slog at this one store, but since they've installed click n collect spaces they've done away with 2 trolley collection points making me not give a flying squirrel.

If you find me feel free to cable tie a trolley to my wife's car, it won't put us out as there's a tool kit in the car, and I always carry a knife anyway

Not interested in excuses. Think of it as a little bit of extra exercise.

I'll also make a note to bring my welding kit on future excursions. Let's see if your toolbox can sort that out :p: .
