Don't see how that changes anything. Better idea would be to scrap Friday and Saturday too, replace them with partying with a minimum alcohol amount for each driver over those days. Come Sunday just have the drivers turn up do a reverse grid from the previous race.
Fill the tunnel with foam machines and see who's brave enough to keep their foot down. Fed up with the gimmicky stuff to try and make it more interesting, sprint races need to go for a start.
Whitmarsh coming back to F1 to oversee Aston Martin is an interesting one. Fitting in between Szafnauer and Stroll, wonder how much of an active roll he'll have in the pitlane.
If he's going ot be the CEO of Aston Martin, probably not a lot. It sounds like he's going to what he did with the Mclaren Group through the 90s to 00s before him ended up as team principal in 2009. The guy never looked comfortable as boss of the F1 team, but given what was going on behind his back with Dennis and Ojeh that might have been for other reasons.
Its hard to know what to make of Whitemarsh and his appointment. More so becuase I don't understand the direction Aston Martin is going in. They keep saying they want to be a top team but I don't see how this step gets them there unlike say the Williams changes
After further watching it looks like they are trying to replicate what whitmarsh did at McLaren; pull the f1 expertise and tech into Aston Martin sports cars and offer it out to external clients too. Huge new plant and wind tunnel. Big investment, big plans
Anyone order yet another track you probably can't overtake on? Tweet— Twitter API (@user) date Now you're just being silly...
What the actual Feck just happened?!??! Feels like this year is seeing a changing of the guard in F1.
Remember China 2007? Back then Lewis threw away a race win (And possibly a shot at the title) by binning it on pit entry during the race. Would be kind of ironic if the points he'll lose to McNorris tomorrow due to todays pit entry error cost him very dearly again...
Verstappens recovery drive should make it interesting to tomorrow. I suspect Hamilton will make a few places at the start with the tow. Tho saying that he's far enough back and the McLarens do seem to love straights. Turn 1 could have drama
I can't watch... Spoiler: SPOILERS Even if it all went Pete Tong at the end, that was the drive of Lando's career to date. Lewis Hamilton has now won 100 races, fancy that. Russell got another point too, fella just can't stop.
Spoiler: Resultz Absolutely devastated for norris. Just gutted. He had kept enough life in his tyres to keep Hamilton at bay in the dry, but the team should have stepped in on the call to switch to inters.
Spoiler Not sure who got luckier, hamilton or verstappen. Sainz clearly invisible as despite being the only one of the top 3 in qualy to finish in the top 3 he barely got a mention
Spoiler Yeah i was gutted for him, but he made the choice on the information he was given at the time, if he had been as informed as Hamilton, he likely would of pitted. Glad Max finished second, thats about as good as it could be given they took an engine penalty
Spoiler The races of Sainz and Perez both got destroyed in their first pit stops anyway, Sainz through bad strategy and Perez with a slow stop, could have been a very entertaining 4 way fight at the front at the end if those two hadn't had their race destroyed before the weather turned on the RNG
Didn't we all decide that the Sprint Quali/Race doesn't work very well and would cancel out upsets like Russel on P2/P3
