I am in no condition to be reminded on the nature of inevitability.

Your 3090 will make mincemeat of 1440p@165Hz!

In a relatively short space of time (less than a year or so...?) I went from...
    • i5-3470
    • 8GB DDR3
    • SATA SSD
    • GTX 1060 6GB
    • 2560x1600 60Hz
    to
    • R9 5900X
    • 32GB DDR4
    • NVMe SSD
    • RTX 3070Ti
    • 2560x1440 144Hz
New machine is just a bit faster, and games look pretty af . I mean... I've only been playing Final Fantasy 8 Remaster recently, not exactly stretching its legs .

I do need to get in and tune the cooling though. I have a very aggressive fan curve on the 360mm AIO I use but it never goes much above ~60C, even on a warm toasty day; I can afford to lower the fan speeds a lot. The GPU, however, gets toasty af!

Im actually pretty similar, i went from an i7-6800k, 32gb ram, 250gb ssd and 1tb mech with a 1080, to what i have now being a 3800x, 32gb ram, 500gb NVME + 2tb NVME, 3090, all about in a year too (most of that trying to source said 3090) and im a sucker for having to run everything at "max" settings, hence the not stepping up to 4k 144hz although it was mighty tempting,

Being someone who plays a lot of racing games (atm F1 2021) im interested to see what it plays like at more than 75hz refresh

FTTP from Zen now installed. Minor problem is that now my homeplugs aren't fast enough so will need to run cat6 (luckily I have a roll in the garage)

I'm waiting for my FTTP to be installed from BT. Fibre 100 (150mbs) for £29.99 a month. Not complaining at that. Im running into my Asus XT8 Mesh. I have had a CAT 5e for the backhaul between the nodes put in (should have been CAT 6 I know but cant be arsed to argue now, shouldnt make any difference really). I hope all goes well.

I used to have a keyboard, but a "family friend" borrowed it for a bit. That was... 22 years ago, maybe?

It's the 300 model with velocity-sensitive keys. No, I can't read music. No, I don't really know how to play. I can knock out a decent Chopsticks, though, and the right-hand parts of both Rondo Alla Turka and Fur Elise, if that helps.

If nowt else, the kids'll get a kick out of messing around with it. Using headphones, if I have any say in the matter...

Well it's a good job you're handy with the ole soldering iron, but I suspect putting cherry switches in that is gonna be a challenge.
