It it possible to replace springs on non hot-swap keyboards? Got the refund through for the K4, but can't justify a replacement at the minute, so looking to spruce up my cm storm xt. Thought some heavier springs and a cheap set of caps would do the trick for now.

Yes, but it's a ball-ache. It used to be a fairly simple affair with a few bent bulldog clips but plate mounts and LEDs mean you have to break out the soldering iron to access each switch.

The xt is boggo basic board, no LEDs. Not sure what the situation is under the hood. Will pull it apart and have a look once I've tidied the office. It's an absolute **** storm after the build over the weekend.

I found this website that can filter for backlit lettering + PBT + UK ISO. Looks like TaiHao is the only option and the cream/gray set I prefer is the only one out of stock :(
    https://www.kustompcs.co.uk/periphe...es/mx-keycaps/?features_hash=76-6287_163-8037

This set is out of stock everywhere:
    https://www.overclockers.co.uk/tai-...m-grey-iso-ansi-140-keycap-set-kb-02u-ta.html

This set is 98% compatible with K4, only 2 keys not compatible is End and page down not on R4. But there are R4 blanks or I can use R3 and see if it makes blind feel easier, I'm still trying to get used to hitting those keys correctly.

These are abs, but cheap enough to buy a couple of sets to make one with the make-up you want. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0736KVNK1/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_i_VV2PH0Y938Z2JPA5ETTE?psc=1

    Got my XT apart

I take it this is plate mounted and I'm boned?

    Yup.

Start warming up that soldering iron and set aside an entire weekend.

If you're talking about one of those hand pump things.... :eeek:. I de-/re-soldered all the switches on a TKL at some time last year and even with a desoldering station it was a ballache. Doing it "by hand" with one of those little pump things.... yeah.... you will want an entire weekend!

I've bought a cheapo version that's a soldering iron and plunger thing in one
    [IMG]
I've also got my decent soldering station in case it needs a little help.

Cool, that'll be easier at least!

    Use flux, lots of flux!

I mean, sure... if you're desoldering capacitors you'll want flux...

Just don't hit them with 1.21 gigawatts.

Will one 50ml bottle be enough?

Yeah that should be fine. It can be a ballache to clear up flux, but it makes the job so much easier.
