Point me to a fan that performs similarly for the same money and doesn't use a lot of plastic.

Pretty much the only competition is Dy**n, and I wouldn't use their products if you paid me.

We've been lucky so far, it's been hot but not "feet in a basin of cold water" or "watch the airconditioner eat our savings" hot.

That might change next weekend though.

Sometimes plastic is a good material to make things out of irrespective of whether it is a cheap item or not.

For clarity, Dyson fans aren't worth it. Like, at all.

Absolutely. I was looking at fans yesterday (funny how a bit of heat can do that) and the cheapest Dyson was over £400 IIRC.

I just bought a full blown air con unit for the same price as a Dyson fan.

Delonghi Magnifica S. Because a new kitchen with coffee bar needs a new coffee machine. As it's away from the bin and sink and I don't fancy a knockbox on the worktop, this is neat and tidy and hassle free coffee.

Ooh! How much was your SD card? I need to get one for the little 'uns' tablets...

Also, does anyone know anything about this or this in terms of reliability, usability, coolness factor etc.? Need to get hold of a "first big school" phone and it's either something similar to these, or get a repair kit to fix up the HTC 10 that's lying around. The HTC is a great phone but I think I'm punishing myself by taking on yet another project with strict timeline. Is the Xiaomi opening things up to "your phone isn't as good as this latest big name model I've got" b******t? Or foreign power spying?

EDIT: Or this was another option in the Prime sales...

    Nice deck dock. :thumb:

EDIT - I bought a couple of things. The monitor is £200 off at Amazon today, and is the 240Hz mini-LED HDMI 2.1 version

And Ergotron's "HX" (heavy duty) arm for it

£62 and that was on a prime deal, (need the r/w speed) they had some slightly slower speeds going for £36 but they vanished like a fart in the wind

The new place has three small (terrible) lawns that really need digging up and resodding, but in the meantime:

Battery mower and "free" strimmer, plus a 4Ah battery that works with all my other Ryobi One+ tools. (I've a drill, oscillating tool, orbital sander, low-pressure inflater, small chainsaw-onna-stick, and a glue gun - which gets more use than everything else put together...)

A power tool battery operated mower? Excellent!
We have a 36V Makita that takes 4x 18V 'drill' batteries in 2 banks, so much lighter than the old petrol mower and has enough capacity to all the lawns in one charge.
Definite cordless strimmer envy there though

Also went battery powered Makita mower recently that takes just 2 drill batteries. Only have moderate sized lawn so its enough to do it without bother. Dropping the corded flymo makes me not hate mowing now - really must invest in cordless strimmer!
