It's not £320 for more vram. The lower vram card is lower spec. IE how do we drive up the price of the 4070, I know lets also call it a 4080.

Nothing here comes as any surprise.

You can, however, expect AIB models to hit two grand quite comfortably.

looks like the 4080-lite will be aib only... no FE model

    So £1300 then.

God what a s**t show. The fact they used Cyberpunk so much made me laugh out loud.

In fact the only interesting thing is their software that rescales textures. Looking forward to see what that can do to Fallout 3.

LOL the Nvidia chart where the 4090 sailed past 450w whilst Jen boasted about its efficiency.

    That creased me up.

~ 26% fewer cores, and probably fewer ROPs too, as well as lower clocked memory.

    It's like a 4070 Ti variant really isn't it, not a 4080.

Of course. It was, however, the only way to raise the price on the 70 series without doing it blatantly.

At least this way they'll confuse a few idiots.

Nah, EK have already got the 4090 waterblock online, obviously that's what you'd go for... It only adds another £200...

Yes, 200 for a waterblock is expensive, but given the comical size of the aircoolers and the absurd amount of heat being produced by the cards watercooling is going to be by far the most sensible option.

Right, I think I'll just boot up Mass Effect Legendary on my GTX 1080 which is plenty for 1440p on that.

That'll tide me over November for me to check out the RX7*** and finally pick up CP2077

Unless a good bargain comes along of course.

    4*** series not for me.

Having looked st the slides now looks like 4xxx is all about ray tracing and dlss improvements and nothing about actual games at native res, so probably no real gain unless you like playing on a 4k screen at 1440p with dlss or have I got that wrong.

Ah, looks like there is a clockspeed bump, that is something.

Most companies race to the bottom, Nvidia is racing to the top and aiming to be so expensive no one can afford it! And we know they'll be sold out...

TBH it has rarely affected me what happens at the tip top or modern gen. I don't think I have ever bought a modern gen at launch. In fact I did, once ! a 7970. I just use it as leverage to get the card I actually want tbh. Though this time I did not wait, because I knew full well this gen would bring back the price increases due to them returning to TSMC.

I bought my card a while back now. Wow, I did. Nearly 4 months ago. Paid £728 for a 6800XT Strix LC. Cheapest 6800XT four months later is still the one that was cheapest then (£649) that would have then needed around £250 spent on it to water cool.

I do expect them to get a teeny bit cheaper new or refurb from a reputable shop, maybe a lot cheaper second hand from Ebay or what not but nothing that will make me regret not gaming on it every night for 4 months.

AMD are not going to paper launch until November. So I don't see new prices changing on their cards until at least then.

£1000+ cards that will need a power supply upgrade to actually use them, just so that I can get more FPS than in the same games that I can already play at quite high framerates/resolutions.

I'm a PC gamer through and through, but I think I'll skip this generation, thanks.

Call me if you want to offload your 3090.

the non-gaming gubbinz benefits me, but not enough to justify the spend [not that i can afford the spend].
