Council tax discount will take another 4 weeks to process :waah:

On the positive side, if I can get hold of a copy of the enrollment certificate for last year (which I'd have to chase the registrar's office for) then I can have last year's discount applied retroactively.

    RIP Poppy [2008 - 2022]

Absolutely gutted. She's not been in the best of health for a while now, so we know it was coming eventually, but it makes zero difference - still been blubbing like a little girl for the last two hours.

Ah mate, really sorry to hear that.

Don't worry I'll be blubbing continuously when my kitty goes.

    That just sucks balls.

Sorry to hear that. Always painful to lose a pet/friend/member of the family.

    So sorry, dude. Always hurts.

Makes my complaint seem even more minor: I'm working in a 15°C office, which per the Health and Safety Executive's Approved Code of Practice means I can go home.

    Except... y'know, I am home.

    That time of year.

Sat at my desk near the velux window and hear a buzzing, open the window and twenty or thirty cluster flies go mental. As do I.

Nothing much to be done I guess unless I attack with industrial killy mcdeath kill sprays.

Just have to ignore them until they generate too much noise then kick them out for a while.

    Pfft. Frickin flies.

Aw man, I'm really sorry to hear about that.

So, spoke to my GP and arranged a referral letter for private diagnosis. Great, now I can start looking at private psychiatrists and costs. Except now that I start to read into this in more detail, I realise that I hadn't accounted for titration, followups, private prescriptions, etc, all of which push the cost up. Close to £2000, in some cases. And a lot of the services quoting assessment costs closer to the £600 mark aren't accepting new referrals. So we're kinda back to square one.

I've had a personal recommendation that I'm going to follow up on, but if that's a bust as well then I'm going to have to go on the NHS waiting list in the mean time.

Got a laptop that won't take its CPU above 380Mhz, I've tried a few things to fix it but they all take bloody ages, because Pentium II clock speeds.

I'll take another look it when I work up the patience :sigh:

It's not a Dell is it? I had my Dell work laptop top out at ~800MHz at one point - plugged it into power and then unplugged it and it was perfectly fine.

HP, frankly they've made a decent laptop considering their main business is brown sauce. I've had it on and off the dock, playing with power settings, drivers, firmware, weird Intel thermal throttling drivers (probably the culprit). Not yet willing to try the more insane (regedit) fixes I've read about.

Figured id give a final update on this

They woke her up, but she isnt there anymore, she can move her eyes, and squeeze her right hand, she does respond to her name, but not her mothers, or mine, the doctors think she has no sensation on the entire left hand side of her body
given the amount of time she has been 'awake' this might be all we will get back, and she will basically remain this way for whatever life she has left for whatever little she can experience
There is till hope, but what hope there is fading pretty rapidly

Download ThrottleStop. I'll stop it throttling (durr) and might tell you why, PROCHOT probably which is something telling it it's overheating. Try doing an ATX reset. Unplug the main battery and the CMOS battery if fitted and press the power button a few times and see if that sorts it.
