    She went

Glad this is finally off the ground, albeit with a twinge of disappointment that it wasn't a daytime launch.

    Nope.

    Nope.

You wouldn't get me up on that gantry in a million years, let alone dive off the thing.

    Nah.

    Not doing that.

    Nope.

I get nervous just watching things like that, that is one very brave and talented lady.

I have a fear of heights where one slip means death, but give me just the most basic safety precaution and that part of my brain just shuts off. At some point I'll have to try skydiving to see just how far I can take that logic switch in my brain.

My OH hates heights, can't walk over some bridges.

Always been like that and yet when she was younger did literally hundreds of sky diving jumps.

Does OH still believe skydiving wouldn't cause any anxiety, or is the ceasing of the activity and fear of bridges linked?

You just described my Dad. Literally met my mum through the Uni parachute jumping club, couple of dozen freefalls on his logbook, hundreds of normal jumps, goes all wobbly and has to sit down looking at the view from inside a tall building. Some people are just weird.

Completely different kettle of fish. As @fix-the-spade says some people are just weird when it comes to heights/jumping out of a plane.

I think the fact you don't see the ground in detail when you're in the plane and you pull a shute you're in a controlled decent at the end when it comes into clearer view is what made it ok for her iirc.

Oh hell yes. I'd jump out of a plane no problem. I've been abseiling a couple of times, and despite absolutely cacking my pants every time I went "over the edge" I'd do it again in a heartbeat. But even just watching that Tom Scott video and the just thought of being up on that gantry? Nope. Nope. Nope.

Ha, yeah I remember that feeling, hitting about 45 degrees before you go over the edge fully to start going down.

    Lovely.

Totally fell down a YouTube rabbit hole this evening.

Randomly saw a link to this on Reddit or something

Watched a bunch more videos from that channel, and eventually landed on this

I started watching his build videos a couple of years ago, but I'd completely forgotten about it until I saw that last video. Comments on that video suggested that this ridiculous frankenwankel powered car was completed recently... so now I'm getting stuck back in to this epic ~150 video playlist. I'm somewhere in the mid 80s, so more or less half way!

    https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLW9NJ83smK6gPbVUVAj_XkOOEZ00g6h3

And in the 3 hours or so since I sat down at my desk, I have done zero work on assignment I've barely even started... and it's due next week.

“It has a melting capacity of 7. That’s on a scale of 1 to 5, so that’s a big number!”
