@Prometheus - More like a pump killing machine.
@ThomasJS - It's actually not too bad...yet. It's nothing compared to the 60+ pounds that GlassGween was. I put a lot of thought into not getting air bubbles / easy starting. I just filled the tank and powered up the pump. Without the waterwheel, I could even top off the tank with it running.
Now draining it completely was another story. You remember those maze puzzles with a little bb in them?
Jeez. I tried to find a pic of Gween for you, but the server ate the article on MOTY 2013.

-EVERY pic I took this time was blurry. I really wanted to get some glitter spinning in the reservoir, and Delvies had a sale on glitter sheets. The main difference with this batch is that it's really tiny glitter, and very lightly concentrated. It made the plastic a lot more structurally sound.

-Rainbow glitter, even. How obnoxious.

-This is the spiral assembly setup.

-I managed to get everything together, after breaking another blade off the waterwheel. -I said the big glitter stuff was frail, right?

-I tried to get a pic. I suck at taking pictures.

-On a side note: This is what I meant about using silicone grease to clear up the plastic. On the left the material is sanded and dry. On the right it's greased and stuck to another bit of plexi. It's a great cheat to get rid of scratches.

-Currently I'm getting the MNPCTech LED strips wired up, and I stumbled over something I didn't know. The blue glitter sheet I'm using is UV reactive. -Like, REALLY reactive. I kinda wish I could have made the spirals with it like I originally planned.

 

Along the same lines as the grease, clear coat and epoxy work great at disappearing scratches too. Not so good for precise parts you're mating up, but for those outside bits, it sure beats polishing.

 

2nd this - both make scratches disappear. Would think a coat of clear coat would be so thin (maybe 10 microns) as to be fine for all but the most exact parts.

I've been kinda busy elsewhere, but there has been some progress:

-The MNPCTech LEDs are particularly strong. I'm putting the lights on a switch.

-This is just a few strips tossed in randomly, and it lights up the room.

-I already fixed the dark spot in the front switch teardrop by drilling a hole through it and adding a strip.

Right... So I needed something to put in the case.

-Let's see what we have in the bucket.

-Just kidding. I wish I was kidding about this port position, though. I must have been high, or sick, or something. I could cap it off and move the hole forward, but that would mean taking it apart...

-I knocked out a bunch of parts... Most of the pics of that looked like fog.

-Here's the CPU BLOCK. -Truly, a block in this case. The plan is to drill a hole in the side, and silicone a tube in to fit the port. The bottom plate uses O-rings, and the rest will get silicone glued together.

-In the meantime, I thought up an obnoxious material for motherboard spacers. My spacer's ended up being 1/16" too low somehow. I happen to have a ton of these glow in the dark stars. I wish I had incorporated this stuff into the design more. Imagine how charged up this stuff would get with all the UV light.

-That was the plan, at least. After a test fit and some tracing of this tube, I found my numbers in the model were a little off. I can't cut into the bottom layer. I missed by quite a bit.

Plan B: remove spacers, make a thinner bottom plate, and do a lot of praying.


-On the side, I'm making parts for the video card. Somehow, I made this fit perfectly. I guess I wasn't sick, drunk, high, or even ragged out from taco day when I drew this one.

-This little block of HDPE is my new bestest friend! I made this jig to glue up the O-rings, and it worked so well I'm using it on all the others too.

 

Whoah dude you seriously need to cast that lot in epoxy and make it part of the case!

 

Well, it is part of the case in a way. I have this block finished and the motherboard 'plugged' into the manifold. -Not sure how I would make something that convoluted in epoxy.

 

The CPUs dude. Maybe make a plinth with those cast into it.

As soon as I get my shed next year I'm moving into epoxy carbon and Kevlar.

 

Don't do Kevlar, you'll only end up with frustration and fuzzy edges.

They do yellow carbon. Will look into that.

 

Ah, Just shoot me in the f*cking head...
After a 2 hour session of putting a waterblock on the video card, I was turning the assembly over to put the screws in. I managed to drop it. It was only a one inch fall, but that was enough. I immediately found a single microscopic resistor on the towel.
