@samkiller42 thank you for the kind words :thumb: I wanted to see how much colour I could recover from the RAW files and I'm very impressed with what the camera can do.

I'm comparing directly with my previous "walkabout" landscape kit, which was a Canon 5D Classic with 17-40L lens. Obviously the full frame sensor has better IQ hands down, but the capability of the D7000 with 16-85 is nothing to sniff at (especially when you consider I got the kit for £275 on ebay, which is less than I paid for the 17-40 by itself lol).

Yesterday I took advantage of a rare weather window in Glencoe, and I was extremely lucky to get the shots that I did. The D7000 has passed all my tests! Granted, it's no fun lugging a heavy DSLR up a mountain, but the payoff is worth the effort ten times over.

Did some more processing today - another capture from the same vantage point. Seriously impressed with the D7000.

Those shots reflect the beauty of the place. It's a place you can immediately fall in love with.

Ahh, Lenny, you continue to convince me to go to Scotland, and I shall... One day.

    Anyway, back in the past:

@samkiller42 it's incredibly photogenic, as you can see  Honestly, I sometimes feel like a bit of a cheat posting these images. It's maybe 5% skill with a camera and 95% the natural beauty of the landscape. I went for a drive through to Ballachulish yesterday and the light was just -perfect- for atmospheric captures: a lot of low cloud, warm afternoon sun, and glowing colours.

    Wowzers Lenny.
Despite my lack of driving license, i think a short flight and a train will still be a sensible idea next year.

You can imagine just how scary Glencoe must be in the winter when you realise the eight foot snow poles lining the roads!

    It's a stunning place though.

I climbed up the Pap while I was staying in Ballachullish. Beautiful photo.

Nice, Sam! Wicked depth on that one.

And a Happy New Year back to you as well! Going to get some more shots up as soon as I can - they'll be older ones as I've no scenic opportunities coming up (is there an easy way to quickly see what I've already posted?) - prep the feedback machine...
