Mercury, being a metal, has a greater thermal conductivity than water. But in a liquid cooling system, it's not thermal conductivity that matters...
The 4-pin connector isn't an XLR, it's a nice type of connector, I don't know what it's called, but they're usually found on microphone connectors...
A magnetic field can theoretically affect a hard drive, but: i) There needs to be a sufficiently strong magnetic flux through the platters...
Or just use a single DPDT switch...
To switch both the 5V and 12V rails between two hard drives, you'll want a DPDT switch.
Your PCB looks very nice, but i can't help but not like the autorouted board - it's nothing personal, i just don't think that an autorouted board...
I swear, whoever designed the pinout for the 4017 just wanted to piss off PCB designers... I mean, how hard can it possibly be to have the outputs...
Why don't you take the +5V and +12V supply rails of two seperate hard drives to a DPDT switch, so that only one is connected to the PSU at once?...
OK, great, thanks for that. I'll replace C1 with a series RC network as described, and include the 100uH inductor Would a logarithmic pot be...
I need to throw together a circuit which uses a pot and triac to provide adjustable control of a heating element rated at 150W 240V AC. Does...
Take the forward voltage to be 3.5V, and the typical forward current to be 25mA. You can put three LEDs in series, which is a total forward...
Yeah, i bought one of those last time i ordered ThinkGeek gear just for the novelty value, it seems pretty cheap, but it's useless.
Hmm, that reminds me. I should go and pick up a few kg of hippy-unfriendly brain-cell-killing solder before they stop selling it.
