Again a 900D, and again still known watercool installation problems at 900D...

I say always… 900D is a lizard with severed tail . This time, I'll cut it.

it is very diffucult to put a 480 rad in the subdivision.

And do not even think of putting a 480 Monsta at the sub.

Only a HAMSTER can walk in narrow corridors.

    E1 [IMG]

If you use a 480 Monsta ,the distance between RAD and PSU is only 15 mm ,and a ¾ OD tube is 19mm... Not enough place for fittings and for tubing.

And do not even think of putting a 480 Monsta as push pull at the sub.

I f you use 60 mm thick rad too , it is very diffucult to mount fittings and tubing expecially ¾ tubes

    E2 [IMG]

We must turn the radiator 180 degree , to use fittings at the front side panel…to escape from the pressure of PSU.

and you have a mini problem…

There are 3 fans mounted at the front panel.

    B1 [IMG]

Becouse they are mounted at the inside of the front panel ,there is no place for the radiator tanks..

    B2 [IMG]

you must remove the fan, or you mount it to the outside.

    I removed the fan

    B3 [IMG]

I said; the designers have thought a solutione to mount the fans at the outside…

something that… has not even come to mind of the designers.

I made a simple adapter to this place , ı mounted the fan to the outside

    B5-B6-B7

You can use the fan filter , and you can close the front door.

I have 25mm more place to mount the rad, place fort he tanks…

    B10- [IMG]

    B11 [IMG]

Front filter and front door can be used as seamless .

I began slowly to dismantle the case.

    C1- [IMG]

    C2- [IMG]

    C3- [IMG]

    C4- [IMG]

    C5 [IMG]

We decided to disassemble 5:25 cages too.

    C6 [IMG]

Case with removed front panel .

    C7- [IMG]

    C8 [IMG]

firstly you need to remove parts of the case and later dress the case. And make

A backside panel to place A.
A mini cage to place B
and a midplate to place C.

    F1 [IMG]

    First 5.25 cages

Instead of 200m deep 5.25 cages, ı make an 65 mm deep cage.

    C9 [IMG]

Back side of the the new cage is closed.

    Number 1 at the photo.

    C10 [IMG]

    And mounted temporarily.

    C11 [IMG]

Front panel with the new cage.

to cover the backside of the case, to keep out this image from the eyes…

    C7 [IMG]

    I made a backplate Number 2 at photo C10

    C13 [IMG]

The most problematic place of 900D , if you don t want to see this

    C14 [IMG]

I decided to make an acrylic midplte with waterway. I made a tray from alu, for acrylic midplate.

    C15 [IMG]

    Tray leveled

    C16 [IMG]

    And mounted

    C17 [IMG]

The center of the plate was poured

    C19 [IMG]

    -C20 [IMG]

    All parts have been grinded

    C21 [IMG]

    Al parts painted.

Another problem at 900D is, the design error, at the rad fans…

If you mount the rad with original mounting brackets , 1/5 of the fans are masked from the brackets and from the door.

    R1 [IMG]

If you use led fans , it looks very bad out.

To fix it , ı made a new rad bracket . to compare the old ones(black) the new ones.

    R6 [IMG]

I lowered down the rad 15 mm.

    R2 [IMG]

You can see full size of the fans.

    R4 [IMG]

    R5 [IMG]

    Brackets sent to powder coating.

After assembling the parts into place started in the quest for the reservoir and the pump.

    F6 [IMG]

    F7 [IMG]

After a little effort, I decided to put 250mm reservoir as a column in the center, without using clamps.

    F8 [IMG]

I decided to use the same way , to mount the pomp without using mounting bracket,

    F35 [IMG]

, on 3 acrylic tubes like a spider as apart from various and customary manner.

    F26A-B- [IMG]

    F26 [IMG]

    F27 [IMG]

After determining the location of the pump and reservoir ,it is time to make connections to the rad with acrylic tubing.

These schema emerged with a little work

    F9 [IMG]

and the last station for tubing plans.

respecting the owner's request , ı used 90 angel fittings at corners .

    Connections to the rad

    F11 [IMG]

    F12 [IMG]

    F13 [IMG]

Connections to the CPU and MB

    F14 [IMG]

    F15 [IMG]

    F16 [IMG]

And mounting reservoir and pomp without clamps and brackets..

    F19 [IMG]

    F17 [IMG]

Connections to Video card and self made Spider Web in the corner.

After connectons with acrylic tubing , pipe joints were detected on the acrylic midd plate .

    F22 [IMG]

    Water chanels added.

    F23 [IMG]

    After a little work

    F24 [IMG]

Drawn at corel for laser cutting

    F25 [IMG]

acrylic plates came , from laser cutting
10mm thick midplate, with waterchanels , was cut 16mm smaler than the others,
to make a chanel for led strip.

the bottom plate is White , it can be lit from below in addition

    F29 [IMG]

    Akrilik plates

    F28 [IMG]

I said I would mount reservoir and pump on acrylic tubes like spider legs.
I put them on midplate plate for trial .

    F30 [IMG]

    F31 [IMG]

    F32 [IMG]

    F33 [IMG]

    F34 [IMG]

And as well came, bonding acrylic plates.

I think this is not good pump placement. According to this old EKWB picture

    The rule of communicating vessels.

For showing that liquids rise to the same height in all the vessels of an inter-connected system.

If it is a Physics rule…there is no problem ı think .

I believe to the laws of physics ,not to the rules of EK .

    We will see together. Thanks.

Hydraulically it will work ok, but perhaps there is a mechanical reason for not putting it in this orientation. Such as play in the rotor allowing surfaces to rub.

I believe that is the problem. The impeller/rotor sits on a baring ball above the stator. If mounted with the rotor down then the impeller will rub against the the pump housing rather than on the low friction bearing ball.

    The case looks good.

    No… I disagree with you…

The only moving part in this spherical motor is a hemispherical rotor/impeller unit which sits on an ultra-hard, wear-resistant ceramic ball.

The rotor , in this case the impeller with strong permanent magnets mounted inside it, is spun by and inside of the stator, which is the metal cup that the impeller sits in and is surrounded by copper windings. Current in the windings generates the force that spins the rotor/impeller.
The ceramic and carbon bearing points of the 'shaft' and the impeller are lubricated, and the pump itself is cooled by the water that flows through them.

The rotor is pulled so strongly to stator , so that it does not fall to the ground , if it is reversed. upsidedown…

    The pomp in normal position

    The pomp with rotor upsidedown.
The rotor is pulled so strongly to stator , so that it does not fall to the ground , if it is reversed. upsidedown…

and you can not separate from each other easily. Rotor is pulled with 575 gr to the stator

Becouse the rotor is pulled so strongly to stator (575 gr) it operates without a contact with the top. it is contactless and will not rub the top.

Well the main reason why you cant place the pump upside down is air. There will always be a air pocket in the pump. The water will level out at the fittings but it wont go any higher because the air cant escape.

In this drawing you can see the waterline and everything above will be air. And if the pump don't get enough cooling while it is on it will burn out.

That is why I think you can place the pump upside down. I haven't tested it maybe the air will go out when the pump starts or it wont.

For the rest keep up the good work! you are improving the 800D on a lot of details. Looking good :D

arg-ist if you are confident that your chosen arrangement will work then go for. For myself, and I suspect the others, I just wanted to make sure you are aware of the the potential problem and risks. Nothing worse then building a mod that is just going to fry your hardware. 5 stars for a great build and daring to try something different.

Oh random question did you Lamptron CW 611 come with the correct instructions? I bought one a while back and it can with the wrong instructions (If think it was for the FC5). I had grab the correct ones off the manufacturers' website.

It may be right about the air poket in the pump.

but the same problems exist in such use of the pump.

And We must not forget. The tube reservoir is at the upper leveli and the pump is below.
Air poket will be formed at the top of the reservoir , air bubbles go up, not down to the pump.

in this case the only usage of Laing D5 is

but this is not an adequate solution too…

there is enough air in the rotor round bearing and no escape routes…

Can you make a decision about which form is correct to use..

We can see the result at FINAL.
