Graphics 6870 is hot.

    'if' you want to improve the cooling in for something like that then...

    Where there's (effectively) no gap, i've personally just used AS5 (again)...

    ...but, where there is a gap, you'd need to buy a thermal pad (or combination of pads)...

    ...well, if you do a google search for "thermal pad", you'll see that they come in a variety of thicknesses...


    Now, the ones you're most likely to need are probably going to be between 0.5 & 1.5mm...

    ...however i can't tell you what quantities of each as this is going to be specific to how far your h/s fan thing is from the memory/capacitors/etc - whilst 0.5, 1 & 1.5 are the common ones, they're also made in 0.25 increments.


    ideally, you want the thinnest ones possible that will be fractionally thicker (ie so that there's proper contact) than the gap for each component.

    (under heat then they normally squash/melt a little but, afaik, if they're way too thick then it can be counter productive)
