Hello all! I have a problem, ive got a friends hdd and im installing xp on it. I've formatted it but now when i try to boot from cd or going into my bios the keyboard wont work[ i have tried 3] It was working 3 days ago when i installed in on my own drive. I only thing i can think of is malware as it has viruses and i had it as a second drive while formatting but would it cause this? I kind of said it'd be ready tomorrow lol thanks.
Reset your BIOS to default settings then go to the boot section of your bios and make it boot from your CD drive first.
I just reinstalled XP on a PC for a little girl waiting for a kidney transplant. Had a he11 of a time because the initial format and bootup would only recognize PS2 keyboard and mouse. I couldn't get far enough to load the drivers for the USB keyboard and mouse. I finally completed loading and went back to her keyboard and mouse. john
If the keyboard isn't working, how are you going into your BIOS as that normally requires you to it a key? Are you using PS/2 or USB keyboards?
Some BIOS have an option that by default the USB mouse/keyboard is disabled. If you can get that far try to enable them. I know the mITX Gigabyte board I used recently had the USB options disabled and I had to re-enable
