Yeah, your office mod is interesting, too.

 

I was reading Peter Dickison's fine article about project logs this morning and realized I hadn't checked in here for awhile...

With Penryn just a couple of months away, the schedule of things seems to be working out pretty well... work on the addition has moved along and we'll be able to get back to the 'puter modding real soon.

We're almost ready for some serious weather...



So far, this is my favorite part. Cutting and shaping all of the beams has been a lot of fun, but especially where these two 6 x 12 beams cross each other. What you can't see is the hour that three of us spent sledge hammering the two together... its a funny feeling, because once you start, you can't turn back.



So... we should get back on-topic real soon... and on some other fun news... just like Peter describes in his article... magazines have been knocking on the door... and they heard about the rig right here.

So what kind of joint is it keeping those 2 6x12s together??? I can't figure it out.

 

Half lap would be my guess.

do you live in yosemite park, because the pictures of your surrounds looks so peaceful, it all most makes water cooling a must so the noise dosent disturb nature!

Yeah, its a half lap joint.

I wish we lived in Yosemite... we're about thirty miles North of the park, as the crow flies.

Case madness will restart real soon. I've got the itch to get back to it.

Here's a big shout out of thanks to BitTech... for an Intel QX6850 3Ghz, quad core processor... this rig's gonna fly...

On another front, BaDassumption is in the December issue of Popular Science... along with Dark Blade...

We're trying to get the heat in the new addition during the next couple of weeks, so we can finish this rig... there's just no room in the shop at the moment, because of all the construction tools and stuff like that.

 

I saw that dutch, looked great, wish it was a longer article though! congratulations on the processor, you've earned it. Can't wait to see it all buttoned up.

I was wondering the other day what became of your 'house mod'. Great to see that you are on track! I love the shape of the boards across the top of the windows, makes me think of asian prayer gates. ¤_¤ In fact, the whole extension has that traditional-Japan-meets-the-(north-)west air about it. As they say in china: 'Fah King Suh Pah!!' ^_^
I only wish we could have seen more progress pics of the construction! <=)
