That would be nice Fusis matey. This way, we wouldn't be into a rush and designs will have more details :).

Deadline? -Whazzat? That's good, I'm too busy throwing GwGween-related stuff in the closet for the holidays.

@Dark - I must censor my response again, but it was very positive.:thumb:
...and I had to clean off my screen.

OMG, I just discovered Kerkythea. How the hell did I missed this free rendering software ?!?

I played a little with it yesterday and came up with a basic render of the actual design. Still a lot to do to have an acceptable render (chamfer every single edge, subdivision, rivets, screws, etc).

For those 2 renders I used the default sun and default alu + plaster materials. Render engine set to the preset (photon map + caustic). I'll spend quite some time playing with it to come up with better pictures :D

(very bad shadows here, too few rays casted)

    (better, but over exposed)

I need to setup lights correctly. Time to try the basic 3 point lighting (Key light + Fill light + Back light) ... see example below :

    A tutorial is available here : http://www.3drender.com/light/3point.html

Hey, Now! Focus on the building aspect.:nono:
Otherwise we'll get might get flooded with the Pic in black, same pic in grey, same pic in gunmetal grey, now with specular highlights...
I'm not saying you will do that. It's a threat. I'LL DO IT!:D

Thought I'd see what exposed fans looked like.

I'm moving on, but keeping this core layout.

Thats purrdy! the location of the handle looks mighty uncomfortable with the centre of gravity!

    The razor-sharp edges didn't bother you?
I'm guessing on the center of gravity. It's fatter at the front, and the radiator/psu/drives are all in the front too.

I was assuming it looks razor sharp but it has that soft rubber coating they have on hairbrush and whatnot handles.

BTW with all those curves how does your Sketchup not die a horrible death? You have a 20ghz single core CPU? :p (I will buy SKU Pro if they make it multithreaded! fail on google's part -_-)

@Razer - Nope. There's lots of stuff I can't do in SU that's frustrating. Being able to scale the profile of an extrusion; or even having command of the position of the profile in an extrusion would be nice.
@Confusis - I'm building with GG's guts right now. My downtime was directly related to having it apart. I'd love that material if it didn't melt and get sticky here. -Makes a good sound dampener.

    Sin City case con

    Hello guys,

i am new here. Usually i am on of those quite guest at this forum. I have a few ideas for
a custom pc case. This is one of them :

It's an PC Case Con dedicatet to one of my favorits movies. Sin City. The comic book and
the movie dictate the colour scheme of the pc case. White, black and red. :D
All cabels are sleaved in white, black an red. The design of the case is deliberately angular.
It shows the structure of a city with huge buildings and so on.

    Top View :

At the top of the case is a lighted "Sin City" Logo, below the logo is mesh and place for
    two 80 mm fans.

    Right View :

This is the rear page of the comic book cover :

BLAM -> Worth killing for BLAM -> Worth dying for BLAM Worth going to hell for AMEN :grr:

At the lower part of right side, there is mesh. Behind the mesh is place for three 80 mm fans.

    Left View :

The left side is under construction. On the left side there will be place for a window, like the one on the picture. I am sure about the motiv of the window, but i must make a decision. Laser cutted logo into the side or plexiglass with laser engraving

At the end two isometric views of the case :

I hope you like it and pleaaaase forgive my bad english. Its a little bit rusty.

    Hi,

I did change a bit my design. I hope you'll like it. This is still under hard working but it takes the shape and the size of a book :

I'll rework the inner sheet/pages and the right panel/cover to give an effect of opened book.

The idea is to have something looking like this :

Welcome LowWang! Nice start. If you haven't found it, one of our members has a huge collection of parts for sketchup. HERE.:thumb:

@Guille - Modeling metal to look like a book is still innovative. MyBooks are plastic and crappy looking.:D
