building a new rig, please check compatibility...

    hi
    im trying to build a new rig. got a spec but unsure on compatibility...:confused:
    Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600
    Abit IP-35 pro
    Corsair Twinx XMS2 (2x1GB)
    Lian Li PC-7 Plus
    Corsair HX 520w
    Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (500GB)
    Asus 2014L1T
    XFX GeForce 9600GT XT
    Microsoft Windows Vista Business 64bit
    Samsunng Syncmaster 206BW
    Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 pro

    compatibility all good, no changes that you should make, but if it was me personally i would change from a 9600 to a 8800, but as there more or less the same, it makes no difference and you save yourself a little bit of cash!

    I'd suggest 4gb ram for 64bit vista - it will lap up the extra mem. Depends on your budget though.

    Here's an article about using 8gb with vista. The general conclusion is that more ram helps speed up vista. So given how cheap it is I'd go for 4gb over 2gb (with 64bit vista). It should help with prefetch and reduce paging etc. Also, you could get a 2x2 gb set that will leave you with 2 slots free for future upgrade.

    As for 8gb, whether you actually NEED it depends on what you do, but there are a lot of people that still think 4gb is overkill, and for most people I think 8gb is not necessary. Interesting article though.
